SLN arrests 13 Tamil Nadu fishermen in Trincomalee sea

Sri Lanka Navy Wednesday morning arrested thirteen Tamil Nadu fishermen with their two trawlers in Trincomalee sea, fourteen nautical miles off Pulmoaddai, north of Trincomalee district.

The fishermen and their trawlers were brought to Trincomalee port. Later, they were handed over to the Sri Lankan Police in Trincomalee Harbour.

Sri Lanka Navy spokesman Commander Kosala Varnakulasooriya blamed that the Tamil Nadu fishermen were willfully trespassing on Sri Lankan territorial waters and said a naval patrol team that conducts routine patrols in the waters off Trincomalee observed the movement of Indian fishermen with their trawlers
