Politically motivated mischievous elements should not be allowed to create disharmony between Tamils and Muslims in the East, said Batticaloa District Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian P.Ariyanethran in a statement condemning the desecration of the state of a Hindu Swami Vivekananda in Aaraiyampathi - Kaaththaankudi border recently. “Those who want to pursue their political ambition currently in the scene are suspected to be behind such crimes and violence between communities,” the TNA MP said.

Statues of educationists and religious leaders in the east are under threat from mischievous elements.

People would rally against such criminal acts by political mischievous elements continue unabated, the MP warned in his statement.

The law enforcement authority in Troncomalee has not arrest those who desecrated Thanthai Chelva statue. The lapse on the SL law enforcement authority had raised a grave suspicion on the part of the Colombo government, TNA parliamentarian alleged in his statement.
