Military minds would fail if righteous political wills not respected

Military minds would fail if righteous political wills not respected

[TamilNet, Monday, 29 September 2014, 06:26 GMT]
“India suspicious as Chinese submarine docks in Sri Lanka,” said a headline of a news report in Times of India on Sunday. The report cited New Delhi’s Navy Chief saying that the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) “is our area of operations.” However, the TOI report illustrated the military weakness of India compared to China in budget, armed forces, submarines, warships, fighter jets and tanks, and added that, “insiders fear India’s already stark military asymmetry with China only seems to be expanding all the time.” Military minds and media minds in India fail to see that the foremost of the weaknesses of India in the IOR is not military asymmetry but New Delhi’s loss of credibility with the peoples of the region inside and outside, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in Eezham.

Further comments from the activists:

New Delhi’s foremost blunder in its Indian Ocean outlook is its partnership with the genocidal State and regime in Colombo and its complicity in the genocide, on-going genocide and annihilation of the nation of Eezham Tamils in the island.

China having no social leverage in the region depends only on the Establishments in the region for its inroads, encouraging them in all their vileness. India need not imitate in competition. India’s real security strength comes by standing with the peoples of the region and by respecting their righteous political wills.

So far, New Delhi’s complicity with the State in Colombo has only made that paranoid State to seek more and more balance between India and China by signing military treaties with both, for the survival of the genocidal State and for the completion of the annihilation of the nation of Eezham Tamils.

Apart from the foul intention, this balance managed by Colombo itself is a blow to New Delhi claiming IOR as “our area of operations,” and is a deserving punishment to New Delhi’s long complicity with a congenitally wrong State.

On the other hand, New Delhi, after its open and active role in the genocide and on-going genocide, doesn’t enjoy even an iota of credibility in the hearts of the Tamil public in the island, in the diaspora and in India.

The net losses of New Delhi is thus two-fold and is fatal to India’s IOR ambitions, thanks to the Mauryan empire, Gupta empire, Moghul empire and British Raj pundits in New Delhi.

But the Pundits and the mainstream media in India have never learnt the lessons or have never accepted the mistakes at least to sooth the hearts of the affected people.

On the contrary, having military integration and corporate integration of the island as a whole in mind, New Delhi facilitates completion of genocide, blocks international justice and insults the aspirations of the affected people in order to woo the genocidal State in the island.

Not turning back from the catalogue of blunders, New Delhi is making a further fatal blunder in attempting to silence and pre-empt uprising in Tamil Nadu, now through political manoeuvres but the futility of which may eventually lead the military minds to think in their ways – all for the sake of the ‘integrity’ of a genocidal neighbour!

Like tilting the military balance of Eezham Tamils in the Vanni war, New Delhi now attempts to tilt the political balance of all Tamils in an internationally needed time.

History will tell how far India could succeed in the claim of IOR as “our area of operations” by treading on a major maritime people of the region in morally unjustifiable ways, just because they don’t have a ‘State’.

Tamil Nadu polity, especially the Dravidian polity, may have to grow beyond having petty glee of vindictiveness within the same camp or coming out with unproductive responses such as burning buses, self immolation etc. The larger designs of New Delhi and the timing of the destabilisation of the political leadership in Tamil Nadu that demanded international investigation on the genocide of Eezham Tamils and right to self-determination for them, have to be carefully understood.

The task of the people of Tamil Nadu is to press for the unity of the Dravidian polity, to help it to attain international status and quality in meeting the unfolding geopolitical realities, and to come out with innovatively powerful ways in making it inevitable for New Delhi to steer its ‘Karmas’ to the side of Dharma.

Unless anything positive is solidly shown on the ground, New Delhi could no more be trusted by Tamils for any engagement or be considered with sympathy in its IOR ambitions.

The military minds in India failing in the case of Colombo are also worried about Maldives.

The mind-set of the Maldivian State and of its political elite is still in 1885, when the archipelago nation signed a suzerainty treaty with the British governor in Colombo. The hard truth is that unless India, respecting the righteous will of peoples in the region, takes an altogether different and credible approach to the edification of genocidal Sri Lanka, the Maldives remaining tagged behind Colombo in the IOR outlook cannot be changed.
