A documentary based on the Tamil Nadu student uprising that
challenged establishments’ abetment of the genocide of the Eezham Tamil
nation, was released to the public in Chennai on Sunday. Titled
“A'rappoar” (Righteous Struggle), the documentary focuses on the student
upsurge against the pro-LLRC US Resolution in March 2013. The
documentary, screened at Book Point Hall in Anna Salai on Sunday to
packed audiences, also saw speakers talking about the continued
international injustice to the Eezham Tamil nation and the future of the
students’ struggle in Tamil Nadu.
Kollywood Director Ameer, Eezham Tamil poet Kasi Anandan, Thirumurugan Gandhi from the May 17 Movement, K. Venkatraman from the Tamizh Desiya Pothuvudamai Katchi, and director M. Senthamizhan spoke at the event.
The documentary, written and directed by V. Vettrivel Chandrashekar is produced by C. Kabilan from Senkodi Media Works.
Mr. Vettrivel was the author of the short book “Thuruppuch Cheeddu” about K. Muthukkumar, the youth activist who had triggered mass student protests in Tamil Nadu in early 2009 by his self-immolation for the cause of the Eezham Tamils.
He was also assistant director to the movie “Paalai” directed by M. Senthamizhan.
The director of “A'rappoar” also directed the documentary “Ippadikku Thoazhar Sengkodi”, based on grassroots activist Senkodi from Tamil Nadu who had immolated herself for the cause of the three Tamils on death row in the ‘Rajiv Gandhi assassination case’.
