Indian casino comes to Colombo

Delta Corp, a listed gaming company of India led by Jayadev Mody, has acquired 11 acres of land near Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo to build a fully integrated entertainment hotel/ resort, the company informed Bombay Stock Exchange. "Sri Lanka, post the end of the three-decade long civil war, is now witnessing a tourism and industrialization boom. Delta Corp hopes to have an early mover advantage and be part of this growth," the company was cited saying by The Economic Times, Monday. Casinos are always a prerequisite in the development of any regional or international hub of economic and social crimes, commented political observers in the island.

Immediately after the UNHRC resolution, the US-controlled World Bank sanctioned money for the infrastructure development of Colombo city, while the Colombo-centric, crimes-accused, genocidal State is the bane of all the peoples in the island.

The civic development of Colombo has a strange marriage with the genocidal Sinhala military of the island, as both come under the direct control of the presidential sibling and defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

Already more than 50 per cent of the economy in the island centres on Colombo. Many identify this feature as one responsible for the long existing national question in the island as well as for insurgency coming from the Sinhalese.

But developing Colombo further by attracting all kinds of dubious businesses all over the world, including that of Tamil investments in the diaspora, is conceived by the agent state and by its international masters, as a shortcut way of achieving genocidal unity and enslavement of all the peoples in the island.

Last month, Singapore Foreign Minister Shanmugam visiting Colombo was also harping on tourism business. Citing the potentiality of ‘leisure travellers’ to the island to reach 20 million per year, the Singapore minister announced the increase of investment from US $ 53 million to 428 million this year. 21 Singapore companies are registered in Colombo.

Delta Corp already operates three casinos and embarks on the fourth in India, in the former Portuguese territories of Goa and Daman. Two of them are off shore casinos.

In the neighbouring Maldives, an Indian company taking over the management of the Male International Airport and embarking on alcohol trade has caused much anti-Indian sentiment, which to some extent reflected in the change of government there.
