SL military arrests 147 Tamil Nadu fishermen in North

At least 147 Tamil Nadu fishermen, who lost their bearing in the rough seas due to stormy weather and reached the shores of the country of Eezam Tamils, have been arrested by the occupying Sri Lanka Navy in the seas off Jaffna and Mullaiththeevu during the past 3 days. In the meantime, two bodies have washed ashore in Maathakal in recent days are yet to identified.
The arrests have taken place while the fisheries societies across the Palk Strait were planning to meet to strengthen the understanding and to contain the poachers who destroy the environment and the nets of the local fishermen.
6 fishermen were arrested at Thon'daimaanaa'ru and Point-Pedro on Friday.
On Thursday, the SL Navy from KKS arrested 30 fishermen in Analai-theevu. They have been sent to Jaffna prison till 17 December.
The SL Navy from Trincomalee arrested 111 fishermen in the seas off Mullaiththeevu.
