Thirumavalavan hurts sentiments of Eezham Tamils
[TamilNet, Thursday, 10 May 2012, 17:43 GMT]New Delhi parliamentarian and leader of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a member of ruling UPA alliance, Mr Thirumavalavan, meeting UPA leader Mrs Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday expressed his ‘appreciation’ about New Delhi’s stand on ‘Sri Lankan Tamils’ at the UNHRC resolution, and requested her to implement it and pressurise the Sri Lankan government to find a permanent political solution. The moment Thirumavalavan uses the phrase ‘Sri Lankan Tamils’ and thrust an identity despised by Eezham Tamils on to them, he perverts righteous political solution, commented Tamil political circles in the island. Rather than urging recognition of rights of the nation, the VCK leader pleading Sonia Gandhi, whose party presided over the genocide of Eezham Tamils, to implement UNHRC resolutions paving way for structural genocide, makes him no different from the Congress and CPI-M, they further said.
“I would like to appreciate that the position taken by our government on Sri Lankan Tamils in the UNHRC. Even after the visit of our Parliamentary Committee nothing is happened. I request you to pressurize the Sri Lankan government to find a permanent political solution to the Tamil issue. I also request you take necessary steps to implement the UNHRC resolution,” the last of the three requests of the VCK parliamentarian to his alliance leader said.
He was given with 10 minutes to meet the leader of his alliance, Sonia Gandhi.
As subjugated people of a nation facing genocide every day, the Eezham Tamils expect a party representing the oppressed people of the same ethnicity in Tamil Nadu to stand by the fundamentals. If they do not stand by it nobody else would do it, and if Tamil Nadu were not rising up New Delhi would never care.
But the VCK that exploits and imitates the symbols of the LTTE of Pirapaharan that stood against all the imperialisms of the world is pleading for concessions camouflaged to lead to permanent subjugation of the nation of Eezham Tamils, the Tamil political circles in the island pointed out.
The other concessions the VCK leader was pleading with Sonia Gandhi were the election of a Dalit Christian to the post of the President of India and job reservations for Dalits in the private sector of the corporates.
