Civic member Shageevan urges course-correction of TNA

Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member Ms Ananthi Sasitharan, who represented the Northern Provincial Council and Mr MK Shivajilingam, who is also a councillor at the NPC, belonging to the TNA, addressed the UNHRC session. Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, Visvalingam Manivannan and Selvarajah Kajendren of the Tamil National Peoples’ Front (TNPF) also addressed the UN Human Rights Council articulating the situation of Eezham Tamils. All of these participants and the others who attended the side events did it on their own effort.
Meanwhile, a minor section, projecting itself as the hierarchy of Tamil National Alliance, was deviating away from demanding international investigations on crimes against humanity and genocide, Shageevan accused.
The Tamil people need to course-correct the elitist section of the TNA, which has failed so far in articulating the Tamil position, he said.
The journalists, civil society and the academics should play a constructive role in shaping the Tamil polity in a timely manner before TNA gets trapped into an internal discourse through the brokering by South Africa after the Human Rights Council in Geneva has passed a resolution demanding OHCHR investigation.
