The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development of genocidal Colombo and the occupying Sinhala military in Karai-thu’raip-pattu division of Mullaiththeevu district have completely transformed the ancient coastal Tamil village of Naayaa’ru, situated in Chemmalai-East GS division, civil sources in Mullaiththeevu said. The Sinhala colonisation of Naayaa’ru has taken place after seizing the strategic Mukaththuvaaram from Tamils. More than one-thousand Sinhalese belonging to 299 Sinhala families have now fully occupied the coastal stretch. The area is maintained as a military zone. Tamils and their GS officials are completely barred from entering this zone, Tamil fishermen in Karai-thu’raip-pattu say.

The SL Ministry of Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources Development has been providing fishing permits to
Sinhalese fishermen completely disregarding the protests and objections
from the Tamils being uprooted from their coastal village, said
Antonypillai Mariyathas, the chairman of the Federation of
Mullaiththeevu District Fishermens Associations.
A cooperative society building constructed for Eezham Tamil fishermen after 2009 has been completely seized by the occupying Sinhala fishermen.
Eezham Tamils at Naayaa'ru village were targeted during the SL State-sponsored anti-Tamil pogroms in 1983 and the people of the entire village fled for safety elsewhere.
After 27 years, the uprooted Tamil families returned to their village in 2010. But, despite the genocidal grip of Rajapaksa regime, a section of Tamils managed to resettle there.
However, the Tamils who resettled there have been chased away by the Sinhalese fishermen, who have been brought down during the regime of Maithiripala Sirisena.
The occupied village is being maintained as a military zone. No Tamil civilians are allowed to enter the area. The intruders have subjected the GS officers who went to inspect the coastal village to assaults. The SL military has also attempted to assault the civil officials.
SL Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and Christy Lal Fernando, the director general of Colombo's Fisheries Department, have been restricting the Tamil villagers while allowing the Sinhalese fishermen to engage in fishing deploying illegal methods.
