Colombo’s ministries continue to deploy genocidal policies in employment

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 06 July 2016, 14:31 GMT]
Among 130 appointments to non-medical support staff positions recently made to the Teaching Hospital in Batticaloa, which is a predominantly Tamil-speaking district, 127 were Sinhalese, 2 Muslims and only 1 person was Tamil, medical sources at the hospital told TamilNet blaming Colombo’s Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine and its minister Rajitha Senaratne for deploying high level of discrimination in employment in the health sector. Former SL President Mahinda Rajpakasa named the 2009 genocidal onslaught as ‘Humanitarian Operation’. After the end of war, Colombo brought genocidal military rule to carry out the structural genocide. As far as the Eezham Tamils are concerned, the current regime has brought ‘Genocidal Governance’ through the so-called label of ‘Good Governance’, commented a Tamil doctor at Batticaloa Teaching hospital.

There are 250 vacancies for non-medical support staff positions. Only 130 appointments have been implemented and those too ‘Sinhala-Only’ appointments, the doctor further said.

In the meantime, civil sources at Batticaloa District Secretariat said the SL Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage led by ‘Sri Lanka’ Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem, has filled 233 vacancies in Batticaloa district. Of these 208 appointees were Muslims, 20 were Sinhalese and 5 were Tamils.

73% of the population in Batticaloa district is Eezham Tamils, 25% are Sinhalese and the Sinhalese constitute only 1% in the district.
