Vavuniyaa protest echoes Tamil sentiments running against
ICE-manipulated ‘Transitional Justice’

The soft agents of external powers, posing themselves as ‘non-governmental’ organisations in Colombo receiving funds through the development agencies of US-aligned external powers in the so-called International Community of Establishments, have made mockery of the term ‘Transitional Justice’ by turning it into a buzzword for fund-oriented Colombo-based NGO operatives. “To NGOs Transitional Justice is like cash tree. For us, it is a drama of international deception,” said a banner of Vavuniyaa Citizens’ Committee, which organised a protest jointly with the Forum for Searching Handed, Kidnapped and Forcibly Disappeared persons Relatives (FSHFDR) opposing the creation of Colombo-based ‘Office for Missing Persons’ (OMP).

“There is no real witness protection in the island. We oppose the creation of OMP in Colombo. What we demand is an international secretariat managed by a competent authority managed under international jurisdiction,” said Mrs P Paramesvary, who led the protest.
New Democratic Marxist-Leninist Party (NDMLP) extended its solidarity by taking part in the protest, news sources in Vavuniyaa said.
Rajapaksa regime abducted a large number of Tamils in North-East. Maithiripala regime is doing its maximum to protect the culprits, the protesters said.
Almost everyone pronouncing ‘Transitional Justice’ is interpreted as a funded operative these days.
In the meantime, the funded outfits in Colombo, mostly NGOs and their geo-political operatives, camouflaging themselves as ‘human rights defenders’, have received a new section of ‘competitors’ from outside who are UK and US-based Tamil diaspora activists ‘rewarded’ with scholarships and funds outside the island.
“The funded outfits were trying to rephrase the slogans and demands of the victims in the North-East. They are also trying to deceive the victims into giving consensus to Colombo-based OMP,” one of the participants told TamilNet.
The protest took place in front of Vavuniyaa Bus Stand. Families of missing persons and political prisoners took part in the protest.
Vavuniyaa Citizens’ Committee Chairman K. Rajkumar, spokesman Eezham Che Guerra and the representative of Missing Persons in Vavuiniyaa Ms K. Jeyavanitha took part in the protest.
