TN State Assembly passes resolution against US move to back domestic investigation
Referring to the two milestone
resolutions passed by the Northern Provincial Council in the island and
the earlier resolutions passed by the TN State Assembly, Ms Jayalalithaa
resolved that the Indian Government should propose a resolution in the
UNHRC demanding international criminal investigations on the crime of
genocide and war crimes committed against Tamils during the war in the
island.
If USA adopts a position favourable to the Sri Lankan State, the Government of India should take necessary diplomatic actions, Ms. Jayalalithaa demanded in the resolution.
Ms Jayalalithaa also urged that an alternative resolution that could be brought forward by the Indian Government, also including the USA, should strengthen the line adopted by the resolutions passed by the Northern Provincial Council.
