Gajendrakumar urges Tamils not to succumb to invisible designs of genocide

The Sri Lankan State wants Tamils to leave the island as part of its sophisticated genocidal project. While Sinhala colonisation, taking place in accelerated phase after the end of war, during the last five years, is visible to everyone, the real extent of the genocidal project, which is being schemed through the widespread militarisation, is invisible to many, TNPF leader Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam said in his May Day address at Point Pedro in Jaffna on Friday. All the main pillars of the Tamil Nation are being systematically destroyed. The Tamil people are still forced to leave the island as they are kept under poverty line. The SL State wants them economically deprived of livelihood as it thinks that Tamils, when kept without social and economic empowerment, would not be waging a struggle for political rights, he said.
While the State in the island wished the Tamils to leave, the Tamil diaspora wants to empower the Tamils on the ground at the homeland, he said.
Mr Gajendrakumar passed the blame of Tamil failure in alternative development to the deviating sections of the Tamil National Alliance.
More than 600 people, especially women and young Tamils, were among the people who attended the May Day rally organised by the Tamil National Peoples Front (TNPF) and All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) at Point-Pedro in Vadamaraadchi in Jaffna on Friday. The participation was four times as much as during the last May Day, independent sources in Jaffna said.
Apart from the already known criticisms levelled against the deviators of the TNA by the TNPF and the Eezham Tamil intelligentsia, Gajendrakumar on Friday raised a pertinent question on the serious failure on the part of the TNA in failing to channel the resources from the Tamil diaspora, which has been there and was prepared to empower the Tamils at their homeland, through the mechanisms of the TNA to empower the people on the ground.
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), having a large number of elected representatives at the civic bodies in the North and East, provincial councils and in the SL parliament, was having all the needed structures to empower the people despite the hurdles that prevailed throughout the last five years.
The TNPF has been there with the struggle of the people throughout the last five years, Mr Gajendrakumar claimed.
The TNPF wants Eezham Tamils to empower them at the forthcoming Sri Lankan parliamentary elections to enable the party to set the Tamil politics on the right path from the deceptive and destructive political culture being represented by the Sampanthan-Sumanthiran establishment in the TNA, he said.
Gajendrakumar was addressing the May Day meeting in front of Nadarajah Hall at Koddadi after paying tribute to fallen Eezham Tamils in the struggle.
Mr Gajendrakumar spent time confronting the allegation of ‘extremism’ being levelled against the TNPF by the Tamil deviators, political opportunists and the Sinhala Buddhist exclusivist sections in the South.
