PPT Sri Lanka genocide proceedings (live)

The second phase of the Permanent People's Tribunal (PPT) hearings on determining if Sri Lanka committed genocide on Tamil people is being held in Bremen, Germany from the 7th-10th of December 2013. The hearing is being jointly organized by the Irish Forum for Peace in Sri Lanka (IFPSL) and International Human Rights Association (IMRV Bremen).

Aussaresses, Abbott, Rajapaksas, birds of the same feather on torture?

While Australian Premier, Tony Abbott, whose recent statements on condoning the allegations of torture by Sri Lanka security forces, was condemned by international rights groups, European media reported that one of top French ex-military officers, Aussaresses, who confessed to coldbloodedly torturing and summarily executing dozens of prisoners during France's brutal colonial war in Algeria decades earlier, and who defended his actions, passed away this week. He was 95. He was stripped of his medals, and was convicted later in France. Allegations of rape and torture are also rampant in Sri Lanka under the rule of Rajapakse-family, with UK charity Freedom From Torture documenting more than 60 cases of torture by Sri Lanka security forces, and Human Rights Watch documented 62 cases of sexual violence involving the security forces, noting that rape is widespread and systemic.

Aussaresses, French ex-General

According to the New York Times, "General Aussaresses insisted that the torture and the summary killings were a matter of policy. He wrote everything down, he said, and briefed Gen. Jacques Massu, his superior, every day. He suggested, but did not prove, that François Mitterrand, who was justice minister at the time, had known about the torture through his representative in Algiers. Mr. Mitterrand was elected president of France in 1981."

NYT article further said, "In an article in Soldier of Fortune magazine in 2001, General Aussaresses recounted the first time he tortured a prisoner, in 1955. The prisoner had killed a man with an ax, he said, and the victim, before dying, identified his assailant. General Aussaresses tortured the prisoner to death.

“I thought of nothing,” he recalled. “I had no remorse for his death. If I regretted anything, it was that he refused to talk before he died. He had used violence against a person who was not his enemy. He got what he deserved,” NYT reported.

In August 2012, Tamils Against Genocide (TAG), a non-profit litigation and advocacy group based in the U.S., pieced together an operational blueprint of Sri Lanka's White Van abductions, and the complicity of State Institutions. The blueprint is based on affidavits from surviving abductees, a video deposition from an ex-member of Liberation Tigers who was spared execution at the last moment, information revealed from white van abductors in the South, and other circumstantial evidence including open death threats issued by Sri Lanka's Defense Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapakse. TAG concluded that the white van phenomenon is not a random occurrence of isolated events, but a systemic well-organized criminal enterprise carried out by independently operating cells consisting of criminal gangs and military personnel and activated by directives from high level State officials.

Paul Aussaresses, 95, Who Tortured Algerians, Dies

Reports of disappearances surface in wake of Sri Lanka CHOGM

A 35-year-old Tamil activist, who was actively involved in mobilising support to the victory of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in the Provincial Council elections, has been reported missing since Friday in Ki'linochchi. Meanwhile, in Jaffna, an alert public apprehended two culprits, allegedly operated by the occupying Sri Lankan military, when the squad attempted to abduct a 21-year-old Tamil girl in broad daylight on Hospital Road in Jaffna on Monday. When the public caught the two Sinhala-speaking operatives, tens of occupying Sri Lankan soldiers and policemen protected the squad and assaulted the civilians, who had caught the abductors. The fate of another woman recently abducted by a similar squad at Punnaalaik-kadduvan in Jaffna is not known.

Eyewitnesses who were present at the junction, where the two alleged military operatives were caught in Jaffna, said they saw sharp weapons, ropes, blindfold and wires inside the blue-colour Hiace van (reg. no. 500-1173).

The SL military operatives have been blamed for abducting ex-LTTE female members who have been released after detention by the SL military.

The man reported missing in Ki'linochchi is Sivakumaran Baskaran, who is a native of Koozhaavadi village in Uruththirapuram.

He was last seen at Ki'linochchi Central Bus stand Friday morning when he was on his way to Ka'ndaava'lai.

Sivakumaran is a grassroots activist supporting the TNA, according to Tamil parliamentarian S. Sritharan from Ki'linochchi district.

Following the recent NPC elections in which the Tamil people rejected the rule by Colombo, the intelligence operatives of the SL military have been threatening the grassroots activists, who were behind the mass mobilisation. Several activists have displaced to escape the prying eyes of the SL military.

The affected people are reluctant to lodge complaints or reveal the identities of those being targeted in fear of further reprisals.

இவ்வாறு கூறியதன் மூலம் இந்திய மாநிலங்களிடையே தமிழர்களுக்கு ஆதரவான மாநிலங்கள், சிங்களர்களுக்கு ஆதரவான மாநிலங்கள் என்று பிரிவினையை ஏற்படுத்த முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறார். இலங்கைத் தீவில் ஈழம் என்ற தனி நாடு இருந்ததற்கும், அங்கு தமிழர்கள் பூர்வகுடிமக்களாக இருந்ததற்கும், அவர்கள் தமிழகத் தமிழர்களின் தொப்புள் கொடி உறவுகள் என்பதற்கும் ஏராளமான வரலாற்று ஆதாரங்கள் உள்ளன. ஆனால், சிங்களர்கள் இந்திய வம்சாவளிகள் என்ற இலங்கைத் தூதரின் கருத்துக்கு எந்த ஆதாரமும் இல்லை. சிங்களர்களும் இந்தியர்களே என்ற எண்ணத்தை இந்திய மாநிலங்களிடையே ஏற்படுத்தி, அவற்றுக்கிடையே பிளவை ஏற்படுத்தும் முயற்சியில் இலங்கை நீண்ட காலமாக ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறது. அதன் ஒரு கட்டமாகவே இலங்கை அதிபர் ராஜபட்ச கடந்த 6 மாத இடைவெளியில் 2 முறை இந்தியா வந்து மத்திய பிரதேச முதலமைச்சரையும்,  பிகார் மாநில முதலமைச்சரையும் சந்தித்து பேசியுள்ளார். இதன் தொடர்ச்சியாகவே இப்போது இந்திய ஊடகங்களுக்கு இலங்கைத் தூதர் கடிதம் எழுதியுள்ளார். இந்தியாவில் பிரிவினையை ஏற்படுத்தும் நோக்குடன் இலங்கை தூதர் மேற்கொண்டுள்ள இந்த செயல் கடுமையாக கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது.

ஒரு நாட்டில் பணியாற்றும் வெளிநாட்டு தூதர்கள், அந்நாட்டில் கலகம் ஏற்படுத்தும் செயல்களில் ஈடுபடக்கூடாது என்று 1961-ஆம் ஆண்டின் வியன்னா ஒப்பந்தத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. அந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தை மீறும் வகையில் கரியவாசம் செயல்பட்டிருக்கிறார். அவர் தொடர்ந்து விதிமுறைகளை மீறி செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார். கடந்த 2012-ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் மாதத்தில், விடுதலைப்புலிகள் இயக்கத்தலைவர் பிரபாகரனின் மகன் பாலச்சந்திரன் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டு கிடக்கும் புகைப்படம் முதன்முறையாக வெளியானது. அப்போது, அப்படத்தை விடுதலைப்புலிகளுக்கு ஆதரவான தமிழகத்தலைவர்கள் போலியாக தயாரித்து வெளியிட்டிருப்பார்கள் என்றும், விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கு ஆதரவாக இலங்கைப் பிரச்சினையை இந்திய நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் எழுப்பும் தமிழக எம்.பி.க்கள் மீது விசாரணை நடத்தவேண்டும் என்றும் கரியவாசம் கூறியிருந்தார். இதற்கு தமிழகத்தில் கடும் எதிர்ப்பு எழுந்ததை அடுத்து அவர் பகிரங்க மன்னிப்பு கேட்டார்.

USA continues to harp on implementing Sri Lanka's LLRC

Seeing a ‘broad spectrum of recommendations’ in the so-called Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) of Sri Lanka, the delegation representing the USA at the UPR review sessions of the UN Human Rights Council on Friday continued to harp on Sri Lanka's own LLRC, avoiding any reference to international investigations on Sri Lanka. The US position was only differeniating between the internal mechanisms of Sri Lanka, namely the National Action Plan and the LLRC.

The US statement said Colombo was lobbying other delegations to revise their UPR recommendations to exclude reference to the LLRC report after they had been orally presented.

Conceding that Sri Lanka has rejected nearly all recommendations regarding engagement and cooperation with UN special procedures mandate holders, the US delegation led by Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe was urging the Sri Lankan government to ‘expeditiously implement both the UPR and LLRC recommendations’.

There was no mention to the underlying conflict in the US presentation.

March 15, 2013   The United States welcomes the return of the delegation of Sri Lanka to the Council and appreciates the opportunity to comment on their response to the UPR review.

We welcome the Government’s statement of its intention to accept recommendations to combat gender-based violence, to carry out an independent and credible investigation into the allegations of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, and to strengthen the independence of institutions, including the Human Rights Commission, Police Commission, and Election Commission. During the review, a number of States called for the implementation of the recommendations of Sri Lanka’s own Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC). 

We are disappointed that the Government rejected all UPR recommendations from States that called upon it to implement the LLRC recommendations. Further, the Sri Lankan delegation attempted to reframe Sri Lanka’s human rights commitments in terms of the government’s National Plan of Action, which does not address the broad spectrum of recommendations put forward by the LLRC report, and by lobbying other delegations to revise their UPR recommendations to exclude reference to the LLRC report after they had been orally presented. Major changes were made to the substance of recommendations after the interactive dialogue. This is inconsistent with the transparent, interactive character of the UPR.  We are also disappointed that the Government rejected nearly all recommendations regarding engagement and cooperation with UN special procedures mandate holders. We urge the government to expeditiously implement both the UPR and LLRC recommendations.

Pulavar Parvathinathasivam, poet, journalist, author and Tamil scholar passed away in Jaffna on Tuesday morning at the age of 77. Coming from an illustrious family of Tamil scholars in Jaffna, Parvathi-natha-sivam was further inspired in his outlook and writings by his association with the renowned Tamil poet Bharathidasan in the late 1950s. Starting his journalistic career with Suthanthiran, he served as editor of the weekly edition of Eezhanaadu daily in Jaffna for a long time in the 1970s and 80s. Later, he worked for Uthayan in the 90s and also contributed to Murasoli, Sanjeevi and Thinakkural. The funeral ceremonies will take place at his family’s present residence at Nanthaavil Lane in Kokkuvil on Wednesday. His ancestral house at Maaviddapuram, coming under the SL military-occupied HSZ for two decades, was released recently, but in a completely razed-down condition.

Pulavar Parvathinathasivam (14.01.1936 - 05.03.2013)

His wish during the last days was praying at the Kaa'li temple in the recently released part of the HSZ at Maaviddapuram. But, that could not be materialised.

Parvathinathasivam’s father was Pa’ndithar M.V. Mahalingasivam and grandfather was Madduvil Kathiraivetpillai. Both were renowned Tamil scholars of their times. Coming from the Arumuga Navalar School of scholarship, his grandfather K. Vetpillai was head teacher of the Navalar School at Chidamparam for a long time.

His paternal uncle M.V. Thirugnanasampantha Pillai, who was editor of Inthu Saathanam, the Tamil edition of The Hindu Organ, in the early 20th century, wrote early Eezham Tamil short stories and novels in the name Sampanthan. His granduncle Saiva Periyar Sivapathasundaram was principal of Victoria College in the 1930s and was one of the leaders of the Jaffna Youth Congress, a pioneer native political movement in the whole of the island in the 1920s.

Born on 14 Jan 1936, Parvathinathasivam had his early schooling at Veemankaamam in Maaviddapuram. He later went to Mahajana College, Thellippazhai, where he studied under illustrious teachers like Kavignar Kathiresam Pillai, Pulavar Sivapathasundaram and T. Shanmugasundaram.

In the late 1950s he went to Annamalai University in Chidamparam, Tamil Nadu, to get his Pulavar Degree. He was a student of Dandapani Desikar, A. Chidamparanathan Chettiyar and T. P. Meenatchisundaram Pillai. It was during those four years he was a regular visitor to Bharathidasan living in Pondicheri. His Dravidian-Marxist outlook was shaped during that time.

Returning to Jaffna, Pulavar was a teacher to London BA students at Ramanathan Academy for sometime. He also taught at various schools in the island, and for a while worked at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Colombo, before taking up journalism as his career.

In his journalistic career he was instrumental in bringing out the contributions of many of the academics and writers of his times to limelight and also in introducing many of them to media writing.

His own monthly magazine, Kalaik-ka'n, which he was running with much difficulty in the 1970s, made significant contributions to literary output besides introducing and grooming poets and writers who became popular later.

Many of his poetry and writings over the decades have come in print as several publications. Always in simple appearance and with childlike qualities, he contributed immensely to Eezham Tamil children’s literature. He belongs to a generation that positively contributed to the society with a collective feeling, without expecting anything in return. The memory of his genre would sure inspire generations to come.

Pulavar Parvathinathasivam is survived by daughter Bharathi in Canada and sons Mahalingasivam, Ilango and Balamurali who now carry the family’s flame of teaching and Tamil studies in Jaffna.

Tamil Heritage Month Bill Proposed

Tamil Heritage Month Bill Proposed in Canadian Parliament

Tamil Canadian federal MP Rathika Sitsabaiesan introduced Bill C-471 in the Canadian Parliament on January 31, to designate the month of January as Tamil Heritage Month in Canada by an Act. This bill, a private member’s bill that doesn’t often become law, if passed, will enshrine at the federal level an ongoing practice among Tamil community organizations. Neethan Shan, founder and chair of the Tamil Heritage Month Committee, believes that such a commemoration of Tamil heritage will provide a platform for discussion of Tamil national identity. "We have been working hard for two years to get both the federal and provincial governments to recognize Tamil Heritage Month formally and we are hopeful that it will happen before our fifth year anniversary in January 2014," Neethan Shan, founder and chair of the Tamil Heritage Month Committee, told TamilNet.

While cultural heritage months are often largely symbolic, Shan added that he believes a federal Tamil heritage month would "definitely help us create broader awareness not only about our culture, traditions and heritage but also about our nationhood and histories. Therefore, discussion and documentation of our struggle for self-determination in Eelam will and must be an integral part of Tamil Heritage Month." A similar Act was introduced in the province of Ontario last year but the Ontario legislature heard first reading on the bill, but it seemed to have stalled after the first reading. It is not law until it passes third reading and receives royal assent.

“This bill would enshrine Tamil Heritage Month in law so that throughout Canada, every year, the month of January will be known as Tamil Heritage Month. I am proud to present a bill that recognizes and honours Tamil heritage and will help raise awareness of the contributions of Tamil Canadians throughout our country," said Ms. Sitsabaiesan in a press release dated January 31.

In her speech before the House of Commons, she saluted the "organizations and individuals in [her riding of] Scarborough—Rouge River and across the country, who have organized events during this month, for the pride they take in our Tamil heritage."

According to the website of the Tamil Heritage Month Committee, "municipal governments of Ajax, Brampton, Markham, Oshawa, Pickering, Toronto, Whitby and York Region have proclaimed January as Tamil Heritage Month."

A similar bill passed first reading in the Ontario Provincial Legislature on June 12, 2012.

Ms. Sitsabaiesan's bill was also read and printed, and now awaits further action from the House of Commons.

Veteran Eezham Tamil activist Rasaiah Navanayagam passes away in London

Rasaiah Navanayagam, a veteran Eezham Tamil activist based in the UK, passed away in London on Wednesday at the age of 71. Mr. Navanayagam, who rose in prominence as an activist in UK in the 80s, was instrumental in the formation of several grassroot political and social organizations in London. Recognized for being one of the key organizers of the first Maaveerar Naa'l in London in 1990 with the guidance of the late Col. Kittu, activists who worked with him remember his homeland oriented perspective and his resourcefulness in mobilizing the Tamil community in the UK for political and cultural activities. Mr. Navanayagam’s demise is mourned by a cross-section of the Eezham Tamil community in the UK.

"By being at the forefront of the formation of different organizations, he worked for the liberation struggle through different fronts. He realized long ago that a strong, enlightened people's support is required for the sustenance and success of the struggle," a source close to Mr. Navanayagam told TamilNet.

Mr. Navanayagam, who was suffering from cancer for about a year, passed away in the late hours of 26 December.

He is survived by 2 sons and wife.

Born on 21 July 1941, Mr. Navanayagam came to the UK in 1966 as an Engineering student. Initially working as a Cost Analyst at a private firm, he later became entrenched in political activities as the crisis in the Tamil homeland worsened.

Emerging to prominence as a grassroots mobilizer for the Eezham Tamil cause after Black July remembrance in 1986, he started the Waltham Forest Tamil Sangam in East London borough, intended to function as a political and cultural organization to cater to the needs of the increasing numbers of Eezham Tamils in the UK.

Incidentally, on the 25th anniversary of the above organization held on 26 March 2011, Mr. Navanayagam was awarded the title of 'Waltham Stow Thamizhar Thanthai'.

Assisting in the formation of the Tamil Rehabilitation Branch in London in 1985, he was in charge of the same from 1986-92.

He was also greatly instrumental in the formation of the Tamil Refugee Action Group (TRAG), an organization to assist Eezham Tamil refugees in the UK, in 1986. TRAG was set-up after his extensive interactions with and assistance from the African Refugee Action Group, sources close to him told TamilNet.

In 1989, he became an employee in TRAG as an Immigration Case Worker, while also assisting with the working programme of TRAG’s housing plan for Tamil refugees.

Mr. Navanayagam was also deeply involved in the activities of the Thamizhar Marumalarchchi Sangam since 1985.

He played a key role in organizing the first Tamil Heroes Day (Maaveeral Naa'l) in London in 1990 with the guidance of Col.Kittu.

Besides his keen interest in promoting cultural activities, he took political classes for activists, besides initiating workshops for community building and social empowerment of Tamils in the UK.

"He was very clear on the concept of the nation and sovereignty and he was also an adept in using Marxist theory to elaborate on the national question of Eezham Tamils. He was a committed Tamil nationalist at heart. Till his last days he remained committed to the objectives of the struggle," Mr. Guhan, a veteran activist and a political contemporary of Mr. Navanayagam, told TamilNet.

Academics question ICE deceit after Solheim's speech at London book launch

Reacting to arguments put forth by the panel of discussants at the London book launch event of Frances Harrison's 'Still Counting the Dead' on Friday, especially to the opinions of Norwegian politician and peace-broker Erik Solheim, Indian academic Radha D'Souza and UK-based academic Amanda Latimer, criticized the politics of deceit the International Community of Establishments (ICE) was playing with the Tamils. In exclusive videos to TamilNet, both Dr. D'Souza and Ms. Latimer came down hard on the Western Establishments and those working with vested interests for spreading misinformation to the Tamil diaspora about the liberation struggle of the Eezham Tamils.

The panellists at the event besides Mr Erik Solheim were Mr Alan Keenan, Sri Lanka project director in the International Crisis Group (ICG) and Ms Yasmin Sooka, member of the UNSG panel that brought out a report on the war in the island of Sri Lanka.

Earlier, at the book launch event, both Dr. D'Souza and Ms. Latimer had raised questions on the UK and India providing arms and other help to the genocide-accused Sri Lankan government. Their questions were not satisfactorily answered.

Dr. D'Souza and Ms. Latimer were interviewed by TamilNet during the book launch event of Ms. Frances Harrison in London on Friday.

Gagged Tamil leadership fumbles on telling truth

Eezham Tamil political leaders in the island refused of visa by the New Delhi establishment to participate the TESO conference convened by the DMK chief Mr. Karunanidhi, fumble on telling the truth. Instead of letting the world know that they were unable to do justice to the democratic struggle of Eezham Tamils due to New Delhi and Colombo jointly gagging them, they surrender by simply saying that they had cancelled their participation considering circumstances, commented new generation Tamil political activists in the island. The Sinhala politician, Dr. Wikramabahu Karunaratne is honest in bringing out the circumstances to media. Three years ago, Mr. Karunanidhi in the hands of New Delhi was accused of dishonesty and betrayal. Whether the Eezham Tamil leadership is in his shoes now, the activists asked.

Sending a note to TamilNet and other media outlets on Friday, Dr. Karunaratne came out with the following statement on the status of his Indian visa for participation in the TESO conference:

“I was invited by ex chief minister Karunanidhi. He telephoned me and I agreed to participate. I got the invitation letter dated 14th July on 20th July and I applied for visa 27 July. Aug 2 I got the e-ticket from ex CM's office. I was asked to collect the passport on 3 August. When I went to collect the passport on 8, agency told me that visa was not given. I informed Karunanidhi’s office, and an hour later, I was requested by the Indian HC council Sunil that I should bring the passport to Indian HC for visa on 9th morning. I handed over the passport to Ramesh Ayyar, the visa officer, on 9th 9.:0 am. Thereafter no communication and passport is in Indian HC.

Dr. Karunaratne further stated:

“I was planning to say that Mahinda regime, who was supported by India in his genocidal war, has not done any thing to implement the political recommendations of the LLRC report. Instead he is building roads, hotels and other structures for the benefit of MNCs grabbing lands of Tamils. There is non-consultation even with TNA MPs. Military is everywhere and military rule is supreme. However we are campaigning against this set up. The protest of the opposition which includes UNP, TNA, DPF, and the left is having success in actions and meetings. We all agree with LLRC recommendations and demand full implementation. NSSP believes that this will be a serious step towards autonomy for the Tamil homeland. Today the government is unpopular and opposition was able to mobilize trade unions, peasant movements, fishers associations and students. If Mahinda continues his chauvinist oppressive policies he will be thrown out and a government that will implement LLRC could come to power.”

With all respect to the good but naïve intentions of Dr. Karunaratne, the thrust of the LLRC recommendations is the annihilation of the identity and territoriality of the nation of Eezham Tamils in the island, and this goes contrary to Dr. Karunaratne’s earlier spirit of recognizing the nation and right to self-determination of Eezham Tamils, the activists in the island commented, but adding that they appreciated the Sinhala leader’s exposure of the joint suppression of polity in the island by Colombo and New Delhi.

The TNA leaders Mr. Sampanthan and Mr. Maavai Senadhiraja also have earlier told media circles that they had been personally invited by Mr. Karunanidhi and they wished to honour it.

The TNA and Mr. Mano Ganeshan came out with statements on the cancellation of their participation in the TESO meet, without revealing the true reasons. The TNPF is silent, even though the circumstances were the same.

Meanwhile, sections in a leading diaspora outfit have been ‘advised’ to revise its constitution to drop the sovereignty of the nation of Eezham Tamils to accommodate ‘non-descriptive self-rule,’ informed circles said.

The entire scenario is one such that even the democratic polity of Eezham Tamils is brutally gagged in the island, in India and in the diaspora. Those who play a role in Tamil leadership are obliged to tell the truth and expose the culprits, so that, if they can’t do justice to the struggle any further the next generation would do it and take care of the culprits in appropriate democratic ways, the new generation political activists in the island said.

TESO would do a great service if its resolutions and future operations were going to be of any substance in providing confidence to the gagged leaders in the island. Tamils all over the world are watching whether TESO is going to do any justice to the polity or is going to advocate succumbing to the gag, the activists further said.

மதுரை, ஆக., 10 : டெசோ மாநாட்டில் ஈழம் என்ற வார்த்தையை பயன்படுத்தக் கூடாது என்று மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சகம் டெசோ மாநாட்டு ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழுவுக்கு கடிதம் எழுதியிருப்பதாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. இந்த செயல் கருத்துரிமையை பறிக்கும் செயலாகும். இதனை விடுதலை சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சி வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கிறது என்று அக்கட்சியின் தலைவர் திருமாவளவன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.மதுரையில் இன்று செய்தியாளர்களை சந்தித்த திருமாவளவன், இந்தியா சுதந்திரப்போராட்ட காலத்தில் எமர்ஜென்சி பீரியட் எனப்படும் அவசர காலத்தில் இருந்த அடக்குமுறையைப் போல இந்த கடிதத்தின் தாக்கம் உள்ளது. டெசோ என்பது தமழீழ ஆதரவைத்தான் குறிக்கும். அப்படிப்பட்ட நிலையில் ஈழம என்ற வார்த்தையை பயன்படுத்தக் கூடாது என்று கூறுவது சரியல்ல. ஆகவே இந்த உத்தரவை திரும்பப் பெற வேண்டும் என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

“இந்தியம் தமிழினத்தின் பகை என்பதை உணராதவரை தமிழீழம் சாத்தியமில்லை” - தோழர் நா.வைகறை பேச்சு

“இந்தியம் தமிழினத்தின் பகை என்பதை உணராதவரை தமிழீழம் சாத்தியமில்லை” என தமிழக இளைஞர் முன்னணி பொதுச் செயலாளர் தோழர் நா.வைகறை பேசினார். 

2009ஆம் ஆண்டு முள்ளிவாய்க்காலில் தமிழீழ மக்களைக் கொன்றொழித்த சிங்கள இனவெறி அரசுக்கு, முட்டுக் கொடுத்துப் போரை வழிநடத்திய இந்தியாவின் பங்கு குறித்து பேசும் முனைவர் த.செயராமன் அவர்கள் எழுதிய கட்டுரைகள் தொகுக்கப்பட்டு பன்மைவெளி வெளியீட்டகத்தால் ‘ஈழம்: இந்தியமும் இனப்படுகொலையும்’ என்ற தலைப்பில் நூலாக வெளிவந்துள்ளது. ஈழப்போரில் இந்திய அரசு முனைப்புடன் ஈடுபடுவதற்கான காரணங்கள், சிங்கள அரசின் 13ஆவது சட்டத்திருத்தம் தமிழீழ மக்களுக்கு எவ்வகையில் உரிமைகளை மறுக்கிறது, தேசியத் தன்னுரிமை குறித்த அனைத்துலகச் சட்ட விளங்கங்கள், தமிழக மீனவர் சிக்கலுக்கானத் தீர்வு என பல்வேறு தலைப்புகளில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ள கட்டுரைகள் இந்நூலில் உள்ளன. இந்நூலுக்கு, தமிழ்த் தேசப் பொதுவுடைமைக் கட்சி பொதுச் செயலாளர் தோழர் கி.வெங்கட்ராமன் அணிந்துரை எழுதியுள்ளார்.

இந்நூலின் வெளியீட்டு விழா, தமிழ்க் கலை இலக்கியப் பேரவை சார்பில் கடந்த 07.07.2012 அன்று மாலை சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணி நீலி வீராசாமி தெரு தமிழ்நாடு அரசு அலுவலர் ஒன்றியக் கட்டிடம் இரண்டாம் மாடியில் நடைபெற்றது. 

தமிழக இளைஞர் முன்னணியின் பொதுச் செயலாளர் தோழர் நா.வைகறை விழாவிற்குத் தலைமையேற்றார். த.க.இ.பே. செயலாளர் கவிஞர் கவிபாஸ்கர் வரவேற்புரையாற்றினார். உணர்ச்சிப்பாவலர் காசி ஆனந்தன் நூலை வெளியிட, எழுத்தாளர் அமரந்தா, புலவர் இரத்தினவேலவர், திரு இராமச்சந்திரன்(அனு ஃபைன் ஆர்ட்ஸ்), ஆகியோர் நூற்படி பெற்றனர். எழுத்தாளர் பா.செயப்பிரகாசம், இயக்குநர் புகழேந்தி தங்கராசு, இயக்குநர் வ.கௌதமன் ஆகியோர் கருத்துரை வழங்கினர். 

அப்போது, தனது தலைமையுரையில் தோழர் நா.வைகறை பேசியதாவது:

"முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் சோகம் தமிழினத்தின் தீராத காயம். தமிழீழ மக்களை அழித்தொழிக்க உதவிய இந்திய அரசு நம் இனத்தின் பகை அரசு. எனவே, இந்தியத்தை நாம் புரிந்து கொள்ளாத வரை தமிழீழ விடுதலையைப் பெற முடியாது. இத்தனை நடந்த பின்னரும் இந்தியாவை நாம் ஏன் நம்பவேண்டும்? இந்தியம் தமிழினத்தின் பகை என்பதை உணராதவரை தமிழீழம் சாத்தியமில்லை.தமிழீழ விடுதலைக்கு முன்பே, தமிழ்நாட்டு விடுதலையை நாம் அடைந்து விடுவோம் என்று எண்ணுகிற அளவிற்கு இந்திய அரசு தன் செயல்பாடுகளைத் தொடர்ந்து கொண்டுள்ளது. காவிரி, முல்லைப் பெரியாறு, பாலாறு, சிறுவாணி என தொடர்ந்து தமிழகத்திற்கு ஆற்று நீர் உரிமை மறுக்கப்படுவது, நெய்வேலி மின்சாரத்தை தமிழகத்திற்கு வழங்காமை என தொடர்ந்து இந்திய அரசின் கோர முகம் தமிழகத்தில் அம்பலப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. எனவே, உலகத் தமிழர்கள் தமிழர்களுக்கு ஒரு நாடு என்றல்ல, தமிழீழம் - தனித்தமிழ்நாடு ஆகிய இரண்டு நாடுகளும் வேண்டும் என அணிதிரள வேண்டும்" என்று தோழர் நா.வைகறை பேசினார். 

எழுத்தாளர் பா.செயப்பிரகாசம் பேசிய போது, இந்திய அரசு தமிழீழத்தை அழிக்க என்னென்ன வகையில் உதவியிருக்கிறது என்பதை பட்டியலிடும் இந்நூலின் பக்கங்களைச் சுட்டிக் காட்டினார். இயக்குநர் புகழேந்தி தங்கராசு, இயக்குநர் வ.கவுதமன் ஆகியோர் நூலின் சிறப்புகளை விளக்கிப் பேசினர். உணர்ச்சிப் பாவலர் காசி ஆனந்தன், இந்நூல் தமிழீழ விடுதலையை முன்னெடுத்துச் செல்லும் படைக்கருவியாக விளங்குவதாகவும், நூலாசிரியர் பேரா. த.செயராமன் இது போன்ற பல படைக்கருவிகளை தமிழீழ விடுதலைக்கு உருவாக்கித் தர வேண்டும் என்றும் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். 

நூலாசிரியர் முனைவர் த.செயராமன் ஏற்புரை வழங்ய போது, “இந்தியாவை காங்கிரசு ஆண்டாலும், பா.ஜ.க. ஆண்டாலும், சி.பி.எம். கட்சி ஆண்டாலும், இக்கட்சிகள் இந்தியம் என்ற கருத்தியல் அடிப்படையில் தான் இயங்குகின்றன. எனவே, இவர்கள் ஒருபோதும் தமிழர்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக வர மாட்டார்கள். எனவே, இந்தியம் நம்மை இந்தியராக ஏற்காத போது, நாம் ஏன் “இந்தியன்” என்று இந்தியத்தைக் கட்டிக் கொண்டு அழ வேண்டும்? நாம் ஏன் இந்தியத்தை ஏற்க வேண்டும்? நாம் இந்தியத்தை ஏற்க வேண்டியதில்லை” என பேசினார். கவிஞர் முழுநிலவன நன்றி நவின்றார். இக்கூட்டத்தில், திரளானோர் கலந்து கொண்டு இந்நூலை வாங்கிச் சென்றனர்.

பதவி ஆசையால் கொலைகாரக் காங். உடன் கூட்டணி- திருமா ஒப்புதல் வாக்குமூலம்

ன்கையூட்டு என்பதை அன்பளிப்பு  என்று  சொல்வதுபோல் பதவி ஆசையை இப்படியும் சொல்லலாமோ! எதிரிகள் ஒரு கோடி இட்டழைத்தாலும் தொடேன் எனச் சொல்ல வேண்டியவர் பதவி ஆசையால் இணைவதால் இனிமேல் ஈழம் எறெல்லாம் சொல்லிப் பயனில்லை.  அதை அவரே புரிந்து கொண்டார் என்பதால்தான்  சாதிப்படுகொலைகளுக்குக் கவலைப்படாமல் ஈழப் படுகொலைகளுக்குக் கவலைப்படுகிறார்களே எனத் தொண்டர்களைத் திசை திருப்புகிறார். போகட்டும் ! எங்கிருந்தாலும் வாழட்டும்! வேதனையுடன்  இலக்குவனார் திருவள்ளுவன் / தமிழே விழி! தமிழா விழி! எழுத்தைக் காப்போம்! மொழியைக் காப்போம்! இனத்தைக் காப்போம்! /

சிதம்பரம், ஜூலை 6: அதிகாரத்தை பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதற்காகவே காங்கிரஸýடன் கைகோத்து நிற்கிறோம் என விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சித் தலைவர் தொல்.திருமாவளவன் எம்.பி. தெரிவித்தார்.  கடலூர் மாவட்ட விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சி சார்பில் தொல்.திருமாவளவனின் 50-வது பிறந்தநாள் விழாவை முன்னிட்டு சிதம்பரத்தில் பொற்காசுகள் வழங்கும் விழா வியாழக்கிழமை நடைபெற்றது. மாவட்டச் செயலாளர் சு.திருமாறன் தலைமை வகித்தார். பொதுச்செயலாளர் மா.செ.சிந்தனைச்செல்வன், முன்னாள் எம்.எல்.ஏ. துரை.ரவிக்குமார் ஆகியோர் முன்னிலை வகித்தனர்.  விழாவில் விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சித் தலைவர் தொல்.திருமாவளவன் எம்.பி. பங்கேற்று நிர்வாகிகளிடம் பொற்காசுகளை பெற்றுக் கொண்டு பேசியதாவது:  டெசோ அமைப்பில் தற்போது நாம் சேர்ந்து இருக்கிறோம். முதலில் நம்மை அவ்வமைப்பில் சேர்க்கவில்லை. தி.மு.க. தலைவர் கருணாநிதி நம்மை அவ்வமைப்பில் சேர்த்து அறிவித்தார். அவர் அறிவித்ததால் நாமும் அவ்வமைப்பில் உள்ளோம். காங்கிரúஸôடு, பிரணாப் முகர்ஜியுடன் திருமாவளவன் ஏன் கைகோத்து நிற்கிறார் என சிலர் கேட்கிறார்கள். அதிகாரத்தை பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள நாம் அவர்களோடு கைகோத்து நிற்கிறோம்.  தமிழக அரசியல் சூழ்நிலையில் ஒடுக்கப்பட்ட மக்கள் ஒன்று திரள்வது ஒரு மாற்று சக்தியாக உருவாகும். ஈழத்தமிழர் பிரச்னையில் பாமக, மதிமுக, கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சிகளிடம் அதிமுக, திமுக.வுக்கு மாற்றாக ஒன்று சேருவோம் என நான் கூறியதை யாரும் கேட்கவில்லை. அதனால் நேற்று உருவான கட்சியின் தலைவர் எதிர்க்கட்சி தலைவராகிவிட்டார். உண்மையான உழைப்புக்கு மரியாதை  இல்லை. ஆகவே கட்சிக்கு வலிமை சேர்க்க அனைவரும் நிதியை தாராளமாக வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றார் தொல்.திருமாவளவன். திமுக முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் எம்.ஆர்.கே.பன்னீர்செல்வம், கே.எஸ்.அழகிரி எம்.பி. உள்ளிட்டோர் பங்கேற்றனர்.
