Rajapaksa’s budget passed by a majority 95 votes

The 2015 Budget of the United People Freedom Alliance government was passed in Sri Lanka’s parliament Monday around 5:00 p.m. with a majority of ninety five votes amid speculation that more parliamentarians from the government ranks might cross over to the opposition supporting the Common Presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena, news sources in Colombo
The final reading of the Budget was put to vote and 152 parliamentarians of the ruling UPFA voted in favour.
Fifty seven Parliamentarians from the main opposition party United National Party, Tamil National Alliance, Janatha Vimukti Peramuna voted against the 2015 Budget.
The common opposition candidate Maithiripala Sirisena and six ruling party parliamentarians who have quit from the ruling UPFA in support of Maithiripala Sirisena and the Jathika Hela Urumaya parliamentarians were absent in the House at the time voting took place, the sources further said.
