Mark February 04 as Black Day: Families of forced disappeared

[TamilNet, Thursday, 28 January 2016, 18:20 GMT]
The kith and kin of Eezham Tamils, who are reported missing after being captured by the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka, on Thursday demanded the Tamil politicians, Northern Provincial Council and the Eezham Tamil civil society to publicly denounce genocidal Colombo on February 04 on the so-called independence day of ‘Sri Lanka’ observing the day as a Black Day. Grassroots organisations, including the Citizens’ Committee of Mannaar, condemned the SL Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and the SL Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne for their recent attempts to classify thousands of Eezham Tamils missing at the hands of the Sinhala military as dead.

Grassroots organisations representing the families of forced disappeared from Jaffna, Ki’linochchi, Mannaar, Mullaiththeevu and Vavuniyaa in the Northern province had a meeting at Ki’linochchi on Thursday.

The TNA, NPC and all groups claiming to articulate Tamil views should openly mark February 04 as a Black Day and pass a strong message to the global community, the participants told media.

The SL Prime Minister was alluding that there is no survivors among those who were handed over to the SL military at the end of war when he addressed Tamils in Jaffna on Pongkal Day. The Health Minister of the genocidal unitary State in Colombo was also proposing to issue death certificates to those reported missing.

There were women, children and entire families of several former LTTE members among the people reported missing after the genocidal onslaught on Vanni in May 2009.

The SL State should openly clarify what had happened to them, the activists from Mannaar Citizens’ Committee demanded.

The participants also rejected the deceptive investigations being staged by the SL Presidential Commission to Investigate Into Complaints Regarding Missing Persons (PCICMP), which is also known as Paranagama Commission.
