At a protest organised by the Tamil organisations in the city of Palermo in Italy on Friday, Marco Farina, the head of Human Rights Youth Organisation (HRYO), a youth group that studies about non-violence, pacifism, and tolerance for change and voices for the civil and human rights, pledged his organization's support for the self-determination of the Eezham Tamils.

The protestors, who rejected the LLRC-based US-proposed resolution as useless, expressed solidarity with the student upsurge in Tamil Nadu and demanded independent international investigations on Sri Lanka's crimes against the Eezham Tamil nation and UN referendum among the Eezham Tamil nation in homeland as well as in the diaspora.

Tamil activists from Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO-Italy), Italian Council of Eezham Tamils and Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC-Italy) took part in the protest, which was held at Politeama Square.

"Respecting the sentiments of the mass students upsurge in Tamil Nadu, India should take decisive action to ensure justice for the Eezham Tamil nation. Likewise, the diaspora youth in different countries should protest to the international community condemning its silence over the genocide of our nation," Stefano Edward Puvanendrarajah from Giovani Tamil said.
