Rape and murder of Tamil women by Sri Lankan forces aims at genocide: NZ Tamils

In a letter addressed to Ms. Navaneetham Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on Sunday, the Tamil Action Front of New Zealand (TAFNZ), citing established cases of the rape and murder of Tamil Women by the Sinhala military of Sri Lanka, said that there is a pattern of structural genocide being meticulously executed by Sri Lanka, irrespective of who is in power. What is new is the openly declared policy of the Rajapaksa regime to complete the genocide with tacit international support and by calculated false propaganda materialized through wine, women, diamonds and dollars, the TAFNZ letter signed by its coordinator, Mr. A. Theva Rajan, accused.

Besides listing some of the known cases, TAFNAZ, has cited the following statements of the World Organization Against Torture and the Asian Human Rights Commission:

“Sri Lankan soldiers have raped both women and young girls on a massive scale, and often with impunity, since reporting often leads to reprisals against the victims and their families.." : World Organization Against Torture

"The Sri Lankan security forces are using systematic rape and murder of Tamil women to subjugate the Tamil population... Impunity continues to reign as rape is used as a weapon of war in Sri Lanka." : Asian Human Rights Commission

Indian police remedy against rape is ‘reconciliation’

A 17-year-old Indian girl, gang-raped in November, committed suicide on Wednesday, after the Indian police pressured her to drop the case and accept a cash settlement or ‘marry’ one of her attackers, AFP reported on Thursday citing the victim’s sister, a senior police official and the Indian media NDTV. The girl had been “running from pillar to post to get her case registered,” but officers failed to open a formal inquiry and tried to convince her to withdraw the case, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, P.S. Gill, conceded. What the Indian police had applied in the individual case of the hapless girl is just analogous to the larger political policy of ‘reconciliation’ imposed by the Establishments in New Delhi and Washington on the genocide-affected nation of Eezham Tamils, said an activist in Jaffna standing for the human rights of nations.

The girl coming from Patiala region of Punjab took poison on Wednesday. Her suicide comes amidst public fury over another gruesome gang rape of a student on a bus in New Delhi earlier this month.

Out of 256,329 violent crimes recorded in India last year, 228,650 were against women. The real figure is thought to be much higher as so many women are reluctant to report attacks to the police, AFP said.

Meanwhile, rape and sexual exploitation committed and being committed with a genocidal intent by the Sinhala military occupying the country of Eezham Tamils are allowed to go as ‘accepted’ by the powers that see the Sinhala militarisation as solution to their interests in the island, Tamil social workers in the island said.

Victims among the ex-LTTE cadres and among the public are unable to come out with cases, as not only the victims but also their family members are intimidated and gagged. The occupying SL military is confident of the international impunity bestowed on it by the Establishments that groom it, the social workers said.

Besides New Delhi that never said anything against the SL military or against the multi-faceted genocide, some European Establishments having significant Tamil diaspora are also keen in seeing that such victims should not come out in making their cases public to get justice from the world, informed sources said.

ஹிசார், ஆக., 11 : ஹரியானா மாநிலம் ஹிசரில் உள்ள ஜிஜஸ்ட் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் 19 வயது பொறியியல் கல்லூரி மாணவி வர்ஷா யாதவ், அவளது ஆண் நண்பரால் அடித்துக் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இந்த சம்பவம் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான மாணவர்கள் முன்னிலையில் நடந்துள்ளது என்பதுதான் கவலைக்குரிய விஷயமாகும்.தன்னை காதலிப்பதாகக் கூறி ஏமாற்றிவிட்டதால் கொலை செய்தேன் என்று இந்த படுபாதக செயலைச் செய்த 19 வயதாகும் பிடெக் மாணவன் சேட்டன் ஷியோரன் கூறியுள்ளான். மேலும், தான் கொலை செய்ததை மறுக்கவில்லை என்றும் காவல்துறையிடம் கூறியுள்ளான்.  கொலை நடந்த இடத்தில் ஏராளமான மாணவர்கள் இருந்துள்ளனர் என்றும், ஒருவர் கூட அந்த பெண்ணை காப்பாற்ற முன்வரவில்லை என்றும் காவல்துறையினர் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். வளரும் இளைஞர்களுக்கு சமுதாய நோக்கே இல்லாமல் இருப்பது குறித்தும் கவலை தெரிவித்தனர்.

டெல்லியில் உள்ள டெல்லி ஜல்போர்டு நிறுவனத்தில் பணியாற்றி வருபவர் சுஜாதா 22 வயது (பெயர் மாற்றப்பட்டள்ளது). அவரது தோழியின் காதலர் இந்திரஜித். இவர் 55-வது செக்டார் அருகே உள்ள ஜர்சைடலி பகுதியில் வசித்து வருகிறார். இந்திரஜித்துக்கு தன் காதலியின் தோழியான சுஜாதா மீது ஒரு கண் இருந்து கொண்டே இருந்தது.

 

டெல்லியில் பதர்பூர் பகுதியில் வசித்து வரும் சுஜாதாவிடம் இந்திரஜித் போனில் தொடர்பு கொண்டு பேசினார். எனக்கும், என் காதலிக்கும் இடையே திடீரென கருத்து வேறுபாடு ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. அவளை பிரிட்டானியா தொழிற்சாலை அருகே வரச்சொல்லி உள்ளேன். நீங்கள் வந்து பேசி எங்கள் தகராறை தீர்த்து வைக்க வேண்டும் என்று இந்திரஜித் கூறினார்.

 

இதை உண்மை என்று நம்பி சுஜாதா இரவு 8 மணி அளவில் அங்கு சென்றார். அங்கு இந்திரஜித் தன் நண்பர்கள் ஜாகா, நவீன், சிந்து ஆகியோருடன் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர்கள் சுஜாதாவை வலுக்கட்டாயமாக காரில் ஏற்றி கடத்திச் சென்றனர். ஓடும் காரிலேயே சுஜாதாவை இந்திரஜித் கற்பழித்தான். பிறகு அவனது நண்பர்களும் அவரை கற்பழித்தனர். இதற்கிடையே இந்திரஜித்தின்  நண்பர்கள் மேலும் 4 பேர் மற்றொரு காரில் அங்கு வந்தனர்.

 

அவர்கள் அந்த பெண்ணை டெல்லி- ஆக்ரா தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் உள்ள காட்டுப்பகுதிக்கு கொண்டு சென்றனர். அங்கும் வெட்டவெளியில் அந்த பெண்ணை நண்பர்கள் 8 பேரும் ஒருவர் மாற்றி ஒருவர் கற்பழித்தனர். நள்ளிரவு 1 மணி வரை 8 பேரிடமும் சிக்கி அந்த பெண் படாதபாடு பட்டார்.

 

2 மணி அளவில் அந்த பெண்ணை காரில் ஏற்றி வந்த இந்திரஜித் பல்லாப்கர் மேம்பாலம் பகுதியில் தள்ளி விட்டு சென்றான். உடனே அந்த பெண் டெல்லி போலீஸ் கட்டுப்பாட்டு அறையை தொடர்பு கொண்டு தகவல் தெரிவித்தார். அதன்பேரில் 5 தனிப்படைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டன. இந்திரஜித் கைது செய்யப்பட்டான். மற்ற 7 பேரை போலீசார் தேடிவருகிறார்கள்.

2000ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 2011ஆம் ஆண்டு வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் 14,257 பெண்கள் பாலியல் வல்லுறவுக்குட்படுத்தப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும் 2000 முதல் 2010ஆம் ஆண்டு வரையில் 27,003 சிறுவர்கள் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்படுத்தப் பட்டிருப்பதாக தகவல்கள் கிடைத்திருப்பதாக சிறீலங்காவின் சிறுவர் அபிவிருத்தி மற்றும் மகளிர் அலுவல்கள் அமைச்சு நேற்று சபையில் தகவல் வெளியிட்டது.

இதேவேளை மேற்படி துஷ்பிரயோகங்களைத் தடுப்பதற்கான வேலைத் திட்டங்கள் மற்றும் குற்றவாளிகளுக்கு தண்டனைப் பெற்றுக்கொடுத்தல் ஆகியன அமைச்சினால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும் சபையில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

சிறீலங்காவின் பாராளுமன்றத்தில் நேற்று வியாழக்கிழமை அமர்வின் போது வாய்மூல விடைக்கான கேள்வி நேரத்தில் ஐக்கிய தேசியக் கட்சி எம்.பி. தயாசிறி ஜயசேகரவினால் எழுப்பப்பட்டிருந்த கேள்விக்கு பதிலளிக்கையிலேயே சிறுவர் அபிவிருத்தி மற்றும் மகளிர் அலுவல்கள் பிரதி அமைச்சர் எம்.எல்.ஏ.எம். ஹிஸ்புல்லா மேற்கண்டவாறு தகவல் வெளியிட்டார்.

அவர் மேலும் தகவல் தருகையில் 2000ஆம் ஆண்டில் 600 சிறுமிகளும் 320 பெண்களுமாக 928 பேரும், 2001இல் 685 சிறுமிகளும் 395 பெண்களுமாக 1080 பேரும், 2003இல் 714 சிறுமிகளும் 333 பெண்களுமாக 1047 பேரும் 2003இல் 753 சிறுமிகளும் 409 பெண்களுமாக 1162 பேரும் 2004இல் 930 சிறுமிகளும் 362 பெண்களுமாக 1292 பேரும் 2005இல் 793 சிறுமிகளும் 460 பெண்களுமாக 1253 பெண்களும் பாலியல் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

அதேபோல் 2006இல் 799 சிறுமிகளும் 353 பெண்களுமாக 1152 பேரும் 2007இல் 805 சிறுமிகளும் 346 பெண்களுமாக 1151 பேரும் 2008இல் 914 சிறுமிகளும் 303 பெண்களுமாக 1217 பேரும் 2009இல் 922 சிறுமிகளும் 279 பெண்களுமாக 1201 பேரும் 2010இல் 1089 சிறுமிகளும் 235 பெண்களுமாக 1324 பேரும் 2011ஆம் ஆண்டில் 1160 சிறுமிகளும் 281 பெண்களுமாக 1450 பேரும் பாலியல் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்கு இலக்காகியுள்ளனர்.

இதன்படி 2000 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 2011 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரையில் சிறுமிகள் மற்றும் பெண்கள் என 14,257 பேர் இவ்வாறு துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்பட்டிருப்பதாக தகவல்கள் கிடைத்துள்ளன.

இதேவேளை 2000ஆம் ஆண்டில் 1557 சிறுவர்களும், 2001இல் 1370 சிறுவர்களும் 2002இல் 143 சிறுவர்களும் 2003இல் 1762 சிறுவர்களும் 2004இல் 2896 சிறுவர்களும் 2005இல் 2824 சிறுவர்களும் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்பட்டுள்ள அதேவேளை 2006இல் 2355 சிறுவர்களும் 2007இல் 2624 சிறுவர்களும் 2008இல் 3196 சிறுவர்களும் 2009இல் 2954 சிறுவர்களும் மற்றும் 2010இல் 4029 சிறுவர்களும் என மொத்தமாக 27,023 சிறுவர்கள் இக்காலப்பகுதியில் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்படுத்தப்பட்டிருப்பது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது.

சிறுவர்களின் பாதுகாப்பற்ற நிலைமை பெற்றோரின் கவனிக்குறைவு, பொருளாதார பலவீன நிலைமை, சிறுவர்களின் அறிவீனம் பெற்றோரின் விவாகரத்து நடவடிக்கைகள், உழைப்பில் ஈடுபடுத்தல். தாய் வெளிநாடு செல்லல். பெற்றோர் கல்வியறிவின்மை உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு காரணங்களால் சிறுவர்களும் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்படுத்தப்படுகின்றனர்.

அதேபோன்று கல்வி மட்டம் குறைதல், கையடக்க தொலைபேசிகள் மற்றும் இணையத்தளங்கள் , மதுபானம் , போதைவஸ்து உபயோகம், தனிமைப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருத்தல், சிறிய சூழலில் அநேகர் இணைந்து வாழ்தல், பாலியல் ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில் நவீன சமூகத்தில் பலதரப்பட்ட விடயங்களை உருவாக்கியிருத்தல். பெற்றோர் அதிக நேரத்தை தொழிலுக்காக செலவிடுதல் உள்ளிட்ட காரணங்களினாலேயே பெண்களும் சிறுமிகளும் பாலியல் துஷ்பிரயோகத்துக்குட்படுத்தப்படுகின்ற நிலைமை உருவாகின்றது.

இதனைத் தடுப்பதற்கென பல்வேறு விழிப்புணர்வுத் திட்டங்கள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு வருவதுடன் ஆபாச இறுவெட்டுக்கள் (சீடிக்கள்) விற்பனை நிலையங்களை சுற்றிவளைத்தல், இணையத்தளம் ஊடாக இயங்கி வருகின்ற ஆபாச தளங்களை தடை செய்தல் உள்ளிட்ட வேலைத்திட்டங்கள் தற்போது அமுல்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன.

SL military, police protect Sinhala soldier caught by villagers for attempted rape

A 16-year-old Tamil girl narrowly escaped from a Sinhala soldier, who attempted to rape her, while she was on her way from her house in Paalamoaddai to Olumadu in Mullaiththeevu district around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The soldier of the occupying SL military was manning a military check post near the American Mission Tamil Mixed School at Paddadai-pirintha-ku'lam. He threatened the girl and took her to into the school building where he attempted to rape her. The residents who heard the girl shouting gathered at the site and saved the girl from the hands of the soldier of the occupying military.

The residents caught the SL soldier who had attempted to rape the victim inside a classroom of the school, which remained closed due to first term exams.

Later, SL military officials who came to the spot said they were arresting the soldier and took him away.

The SL police from Maangku'lam police station, who arrived at the site also vanished from the scene without arresting the soldier or registering any complaint, residents said.

The victim is from Paalamoaddai and has completed G.C.E (O/L) last year.

Mass-rape alleged in Theavipuram amid civilan slaughter

Tamils Against Genocide (TAG), a US-based activist group that seeks legal redress to Tamil victims of war, said Saturday that the organization is piecing together evidence based on an eye-witness testimony that up to 20 women, separated from nearly 200 civilians who surrendered to the SLA, were alleged to have been raped by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers near the village of Theavipuram, in Mullaiththeevu, in April 2009. While lack of witness protection program in Sri lanka, and threat to life of witnesses who appear against Security Forces have placed TAG's legal effort in UK on hold, TAG said that the current legal action in UK involving Ex-Army Commander, Prasanna de Silva, may provide the momentum required to seek witnesses and to obtain corroborative evidence to identify the perpetrators of the alleged crime.

"Families in small numbers were fleeing the Colombo demarcated No Fire Zone (NFZ) in Mu'l'lvaikkaal in Mullaitivu from February till the end of the war on or around 17th May. There were persistent rumours among the beleagured civilians that mass rapes were occurring during this period. 40 to 50 Kilometer area inland from the SLA forward lines close to the beachhead of the NFZ, was fully occupied by several divisions of the SLA. No one, other than the victim-escapees, can bear witness to the crimes committed by the SLA in the area controlled by the SLA," a witness who was working among the population in Mu'l'livaikkaal until the end of the war, and later escaped to a foreign country, told TamilNet.

According to this witness, evidence of such crimes can be gathered as soon as there is free access to the Vanni area. "It will be hard for the military to destroy all the evidence; the memory of such crimes last until the victim is dead," the witness said.

Prasanna de Silva, who was transferred as the Commander for the 59th division operating south of Mullaiththeevu on or around 7th May 2009, was commanding the 55th division which broke out from Elephant Pass and advanced south towards Chu'ndikku'lam and Chaalai. Media reports, including reports from the Sri Lanka defense ministry, provide evidence that the 55th division was the SLA division closest to the area around Theavipuram when the alleged rape occurred in April 2009.

"The rape victim was a member of the refugee stream fleeing Safe Zone, and circumstantial evidence indicate that there is reason to believe the victim would have surrendered to the troops of the 55th division. "Military Command Responsibility" doctrine will attach criminality to the commander of the 55th Division whose troops are likely to have carried out the mass rape by their sole presence in the area at the time of rape. Tamil expatriate organizations, working with the Tamil refugees and victims who escaped after being holed up in the NFZ, should vigorously seek to identify additional witnesses willing to testify to the above crimes," TAG spokesperson said.

Nimalarajan murder-suspect rapes and kills 13-year-old girl, villagers enraged

An EPDP paramilitary operative on Saturday raped and killed a 13-year-old student of Neduntheevu Maha Viththiyaalayam, Jesudasan Lakshini, triggering anger among the villagers of Neduntheevu (Delf), an islet off Jaffna. The villages encircled the camps of the Sri Lanka Navy and the SL Police on Sunday and demanded that the civilian representatives of the islet should be present to monitor that investigations were being carried out. The suspect was earlier arrested in connection with Nimalarajan killing, but escaped legal processing with the backing of SL Police, the residents alleged.

At least 600 civilians had come together on Sunday protesting against the SL military and the SL police.

The enraged villagers who had apprehended both the culprits handed them over to the SL Police demanding immediate investigations.

Fearing that the SL police and Navy would send away the alleged culprits, the protesters blocked the Ku'rikaadduvaan jetty, disrupting communication to and from the islet.

The leadership of the EPDP paramilitary was trying to describe that the culprit, caught by the villagers after the brutal rape and killing was no longer employed by the EPDP. An EPDP paramilitary operative named Uthayan was trying to divert the attention away from his group.

On Monday, schools remained closed and black flags were flown throughout the islet.

While the tourism industry in Sri Lanka struggled to contain the negative fall-out from the murder of a 32-year old British tourist, Shaikah Zaman, and attack on his Russian girl friend, Victoria Alexandrovna, in Tangalle, Sri Lanka, a local bar owner and eye-witness told Sunday Leader that the attackers "stripped and raped her [Alexandronova] mercilessly although she was bleeding from her head. Later I saw Zaman [British tourist] lying on the lawn next to the restaurant but did not know whether he was dead or alive.” Earlier, Sri Lanka's deputy economic development minister, Lakshman Abeywardene, summarily dismissed the rape reports as false.

Police say the Chairman of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha, Sampath Vidanapathirana, a close associate of ruling SLFP politicians.

Sunday Leader also reported that many eye-witnesses wished to remain anonymous as they fear for their lives. "Informants willingly spoke to the newspaper with a desire to educate the people about the true state of affairs in Tangalle over the past few years," the paper said, adding, many locals have told the paper that "Tangalle and Hambantota are becoming the most dangerous cities" in Sri Lanka.

According the primary eye-witness, “I was dancing with two foreign girls. The altercation began because none of the foreign girls wanted to dance with Vidanapathirana. He and his companions then assaulted me and a brawl broke out. It was at this time that Zaman and his friend rushed to the scene from the pool side. When the British tourist tried to settle the fight, Vidanapathirana attacked Zaman with broken bottles," the eye witness told the paper.

Hotel staff was prevented from leaving the premises and were held inside the hotel for three days, as a measure to control information spreading out to the media according to the paper.

Locals alleged that the police failed to arrest the main suspect even while the police knew the suspect's whereabouts. Police were fearful of suspect's connections to high-level politicians, locals added.

Reports from the Sri Lanka media state that the southern tourist town of Tangalle near Hambantota "is now all but deserted after foreign visitors fled" following the murder of a 32-year old British tourist after a bar brawl at the resort. Prosthetic expert Khuram Shaikh, from Milnrow, Rochdale, was taking a break from his Red Cross assignment in Middle-east, when he was killed, and his Russian girlfriend was severely injured during the altercation. The alleged killer, Vidanapathirana, 24, the chairman of Tangalle village council, a close associate of Rajapaksas, surrendered after absconding for a day, according to reports. Meanwhile, BBC reported five youths were arrested attempting to rape a swedish tourist Friday in Negombo, where tourists guides have complained to Police that incidents of sexual harassment of tourists occur regularly in the resorts.

Shaikh's friend, Victoria Alexandrovna, 23, is being treated in Karapitiya hospital, Galle at the intensive care unit, reports said.

While media reports said that the Ms. Alexandrovna was sexually assaulted, Sri Lanka's deputy economic development minister, Lakshman Abeywardene, said these reports were false.

BBC also reported that journalists have received death threats following their coverage of the murder and attack on a tourist couple.

All planned events and festivities for tourists in the southern Sri Lankan resort of Tangalle has been cancelled following the killing of a holiday maker, local tourism promoters said.

“Normally, tourists move around and visit other venues in the area, but now they are afraid to go out in the night” President of the Tangalle Tourist Hoteliers Association told BBC.

Local media also reported that "[a] group of persons identifying themselves as law abiding citizens of Tangalle, have complained to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in writing that there are attempts by some elements with vested interests to undermine investigations into the killing."

The attacks on tourists are reported amidst other ominous statistics related to escalation in rape cases in Sri Lanka. Daily Mirror reported Thursday that a total of 1,637 rape cases had been reported to the police during this year,

திருச்சூர், பிப். 4: கேரள மாநிலத்தில் ஓடும் ரயிலில் இருந்து பெண்ணை கீழே தள்ளிவிட்டு கற்பழித்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக தமிழகத்தின் கடலூரைச் சேர்ந்த கோவிந்தசாமி என்பவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.  கேரள மாநிலம் ஷொர்ணூரைச் சேர்ந்த 23 வயது இளம் பெண் ஒருவர் கடந்த செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை இரவு எர்ணாகுளம் - ஷோர்ணூர் பயணிகள் ரயிலில் பயணம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர் கொச்சியில் ஒரு தனியார் நிறுவனத்தில் பணியாற்றி வந்தார்.  தனது சொந்த ஊருக்கு ரயிலில், பெண்கள் பெட்டியில் சென்றார். அந்த பெட்டியில் அவர் மட்டும் தனியாக இருந்ததாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. அப்போது அந்தப் பெட்டிக்கு வந்த மர்ம நபர் ஒருவர், அந்தப் பெண்ணிடம் தகாத முறையில் நடக்க முயன்றுள்ளார். இதை அப்பெண் தடுக்க முயன்றுள்ளார்.  பின்னர் அந்தப் பெண்ணை ஓடும் ரயிலில் இருந்து வெளியில் தள்ளி விட்டுள்ளார். பின்னர் அவரும் கீழே குதித்து அந்தப் பெண்ணை கற்பழித்துவிட்டு தப்பிவிட்டதாகத் தெரிகிறது.  இதனிடையே, பெண்கள் பெட்டியில் இருந்து யாரோ கீழே விழுவதைக் கடைசிப் பெட்டியில் இருந்து கவனித்த ரயில் கார்டு, ஷொர்ணூர் ரயில் நிலையம் சென்றதும் ரயில்வே போலீஸôரிடம் அதை தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.  இதையடுத்து படுகாயம் அடைந்து தண்டவளாத்தில் உயிருக்குப் போராடிக் கொண்டிருந்த அந்தப் பெண் மீட்கப்பட்டு திருச்சூர் மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டார். அங்கு அவருக்கு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட சோதனையில் அந்தப் பெண் கற்பழிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டது.  இந்தக் கொடிய செயலில் ஈடுபட்ட நபரை போலீஸôர் தேடிவந்தனர். இந்நிலையில் இச்சம்பவத்தில் ஈடுபட்டதாகக் கூறி தமிழகத்தின் கடலூரைச் சேர்ந்த கோவிந்தசாமி என்பவரை போலீஸôர் கைது செய்துள்ளனர். அவர் ஏற்கெனவே பல குற்றச் செயல்களில் சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர் எனவும் இடது கையை இழந்தவர் எனவும் போலீஸôர் கூறினர். அவர் இப்போது போலீஸ் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டு விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறார்.  கொலை முயற்சி, அபாயகரமான ஆயுதங்களால் தாக்குதல் நடத்துதல் உள்ளிட்ட குற்றங்களுக்காக கோவிந்தசாமி மீது இந்திய தண்டனைச் சட்டம் 307, 326 ஆகிய பிரிவுகளின் கீழ் வழக்குப் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டது.  பின்னர் மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் அவருக்கு ஆண்மை சோதனை செய்யப்பட்டது. அவரை பரிசோதித்த மருத்துவர்கள் அவர் மீது இந்திய தண்டனைச் சட்டத்தின் 376-வது பிரிவின்படி கற்பழிப்பு வழக்கும் பதிவு செய்யலாம் என பரிந்துரைத்துள்ளனர்.  இந்நிலையில் மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்றுவரும் அந்தப்பெண்ணின் உடல்நலத்தில் எந்தவித முன்னேற்றமும் ஏற்படவில்லை என மருத்துவர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.  அவரது உடல் நிலை தொடர்ந்து கவலைக்கிடமாக இருப்பதாகவும் அவருக்கு செயற்கை சுவாசம் அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் மருத்துவர்கள் தெரிவித்தனர்.  தலையில் எலும்புகள் முறிந்துள்ளதாகவும் மூளையில் ரத்தக் கசிவு உள்ளதாகவும் மருத்துவர்கள் மேலும் தெரிவித்தனர்

பெங்களூர், டிச.9: பாலியல் குற்றச்சாட்டில் சிக்கியுள்ள நித்யானந்தா, கொலை மிரட்டல் விடுப்பதாக அவரின் முன்னாள் சீடர் லெனின் கருப்பன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.பெங்களூரில் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் வியாழக்கிழமை அவர் கூறியது:2009-ம் ஆண்டில் நித்யானந்தா தொடர்பான சிடியை அவரது உதவியாளர்கள் மூலம் பார்த்தேன். ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேறிய பிறகு, போலீஸாரிடம் இது பற்றி புகார் கொடுத்தேன். இதையறிந்த நித்யானந்தா, என்னுடன் பேரம் பேசினார். | 20 கோடி தருவாக ஆசை வார்த்தை கூறினார். யாரிடமும் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டாமென்றும் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.நித்யானந்தாவின் செயல்களை மக்களிடம் வெளிச்சம்போட்டு காண்பிக்கவே சிடியை வெளியிட்டேன். என்னிடம் இருக்கும் எல்லா ஆதாரங்களையும் சிஐடி போலீஸாரிடம் ஒப்படைத்துள்ளேன். என்னைப் பற்றி நித்யானந்தா மற்றும் அவரது ஆஸ்ரமத்தினர் பொய்யான புகார்களை தொடர்ந்து கூறி வருகிறார்கள். நித்யானந்தாவின் எல்லா உண்மைகளையும் வெளியில் சொன்னதால், கடந்த ஏப்ரல் முதல் இன்று வரை தொடர்ந்து என்னை கொலை செய்துவிடுவதாக மிரட்டி வருகிறார். என் உயிருக்கு ஆபத்து ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இதை போலீஸாரிடம் புகாராகக் கொடுத்துள்ளேன். இப்போது போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பில் இருந்து வருகிறேன் என்றார்.

லண்டன், டிச.20: போரினால் முகாம்களில் தஞ்சம் அடைந்த ஈழத்தமிழ் பெண்கள் பயங்கரமான கொடுமையை அனுபவித்தனர் என்று மனித உரிமை அமைப்பு ஒன்றின் பிரிட்டன் மருத்துவர் ஒருவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். அதிலும், முகாம்களில் இளம்பெண்களை ராணுவ அதிகாரிகள் வலுக்கட்டாயமாக பாலியல் கொடுமைப் படுத்தியதே வேதனையான விஷயம் என்றும் அவர் கூறினார். முகாம்களில் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு போதுமான உணவு அளிக்கப்படுவதில்லை. இதனால் பசியால் துடிக்கின்றனர். இதை தங்களுக்கு சாதகமாக்கிக் கொண்ட ராணுவ அதிகாரிகள், தமிழ்ப் பெண்களுக்கு உணவு தருவதாகவும், பணம் தருவதாகவும் கூறி பாலியல் கொடுமைக்கு ஆளாக்கினார்கள் என்பதே பரிதாபம் என்றார் அந்த மருத்துவர். இலங்கையில் ஈழத்தமிழர்களை அடைத்து வைத்திருந்த முகாம் ஒன்றை பார்வையிட்டேன். அப்போது என் கண் முன் அரங்கேறிய கொடுமையை என்னால் சகித்துக் கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அந்த முகாமில் ஈழத்தமிழர்கள் மிருகங்களைப் போல் நடத்தப்பட்டனர். முகாம்களில் உள்ளவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கு ஒருவர் பேசிக் கொள்ள அனுமதிக்கப்படவில்லை. முகாமின் முள்வேலிக்கு அருகில் நெருங்கவும் அவர்களுக்கு அனுமதி கிடையாது. முகாம்களில் உள்ளவர்களை பார்வையாளர்கள் அருகில் சென்று பார்க்க அனுமதிக்கப்படுவதில்லை. குறிப்பிட்ட இடைவெளியில் இருந்தே பார்க்க முடிந்தது. அதுவும் சிறிது நேரமே பார்க்க முடிந்தது. உடனையே ராணுவ அதிகாரிகள் வந்து ஈழத்தமிழர்களை முகாமுக்குள் செல்லுமாறு எச்சரித்தார்கள். அப்போது பெண்களின் தேகத்தை தொட்டு அவர்கள் அநாகரிகமாக நடந்து கொண்டார்கள். அதை பார்க்கவே கண்கூசியது. வேதனையாக இருந்தது. ராணுவ அதிகாரிகள் அப்படி ஒழுங்கீனமாக நடந்து கொண்டாலும் அதற்கு எவ்வித எதிர்ப்பும் தெரிவிக்காமல் அமைதியாய் தமிழ்ப் பெண்கள் நடந்து சென்றனர். அப்படி அவர்கள் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்தால் அவர்களுக்கு எதுவும் நிகழலாம். அதை உணர்ந்துதான் அவர்கள் கொடுமையை சகித்துக்கொண்டு, தங்களது நிலைமையை நினைத்து மெüனமாக சென்றனர். மற்றொரு முகாம் ஒன்றில் போருக்குப் பயந்து தஞ்சம் அடைந்த வாணி குமார் (25) என்ற பெண்ணை இலங்கை ராணுவ அதிகாரிகள் 4 மாதங்கள் அடைத்து வைத்து பாலியல் கொடுமை செய்துள்ளனர். சில நேரங்களில் அந்த பெண்ணை நீண்ட நேரம் வெயிலிலும் நிறுத்தி வைத்து கொடுமை செய்துள்ளனர். இப்படி இலங்கை முகாம்களில் ஈழத்தமிழ் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான கொடுமையை சொல்லி மாளாது என்றார் அந்த மருத்துவர்.

திருமலை மாவட்டத்தில் சில வங்கிகளில் கடமைபுரியும் தமிழ் பெண்கள் மீது வலுக்கட்டாயமான முறையில் சிங்கள கலாசார பாரம்பரியங்கள் திணிக்கப்படுவதாகத் தெவிக்கப்படுகிறது.இந்த வங்கிகளில் கடமை புரியும் தமிழ்ப் பெண்கள் தமது சமூகம் சார்ந்த உடைகளை அணியக்கூடாதெனவும் சிங்கள பாரம்பரிய உடைகளே அணிய வேண்டுமெனவும் அவர்களது நிர்வாகங்கள் நிர்ப்பந்தித்து வருவதாகவும் கூறப்படுகிறது.தமிழ் வாடிக்கையாளர் வங்கிகளுக்குள் நுழையும் போது கூட "வணக்கம்' என்று சொல்வதற்குப் பதிலாக "ஆயுபோவன்'' சொல்ல வேண்டுமென்ற நிர்ப்பந்தத்துக்கும் உள்ளாகியுள்ளனர். இதேவேளை கந்தளாய் குளத்தைக் கட்டியவர் குளக்கோட்டன் என்பதனை மறைக்கும் வகையில் அந்தக் குளத்தைச் சிங்களவர் ஒருவரே கட்டியதாக வலிந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட ஆதாரங்களுடன் பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்படவுள்ளதாகவும் நம்பகமான செய்திகள் தெவிக்கின்றன.

வடபகுதி முகாம்களின் நிலை மிக மோசம், பாலியலில் ஈடுபடுத்தப்படும் பெண்கள்: அவுஸ்திரேலிய நாளேடு தகவல்

வடபகுதியில் பலவந்தமாகத் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள 3 லட்சம் தமிழ் அகதிகளின் நிலை மிகவும் மோசமானதாக இருப்பதாகத் தெரிவித்துள்ள அவுஸ்திரேலியாவின் மிகவும் பிரபலமான நாளேடான 'த அவுஸ்ரேலியன்', அங்குள்ள பெண்கள் அகதிகளுக்காக என அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள முகாம் ஒன்றில் பலாத்தகாரமாக பாலியல் தொழிலில் ஈடுபடுத்தப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும் அதிர்ச்சித் தகவல் ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

இது தொடர்பாக இன்று வியாழக்கிழமை சிறப்புக் கட்டுரை ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டுள்ள 'த அவுஸ்திரேலியன்', புல்மோட்டையில் உள்ள இடம்பெயர்ந்தவர்களுக்கான முகாமில் தடுத்துவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள பெண்களே அதிகாரிகளால் பாலியல் தொழிலில் ஈடுபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாகத் தெரிவித்திருக்கின்றது. இது தொடர்பாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்ட குற்றச்சாட்டுக்கள் தொடர்பாக சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கமும், உதவி நிறுவனங்களும் இணைந்து விசாரணைகளை நடத்திவருவதாகவும் அந்தக் கட்டுரையில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. "இந்த விடயம் தொடர்பாக அரசாங்கத்தின் மூத்த அதிகாரிகளின் கவனத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது. இருந்த போதிலும் யாரும் இது தொடர்பாக எதனையும் செய்யவில்லை" என தனது பெயரைக் குறிப்பிட விரும்பாத உதவி நிறுவனப் பணியாளர் ஒருவர் தெரிவித்தார். "இந்த அகதி முகாம்களில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள கூடாரம் ஒன்றில் சராசரியாக மூன்று குடும்பங்கள் தங்கியிருக்கின்றன. இந்நிலையில் அவர்கள் மற்றவர்களுடைய இடையூறுகள் இல்லாமல் அவற்றில் வசிக்க முடியாது. இந்நிலையில் அங்கு வரும் இராணுவத்தினர் அவர்களுக்குத் தேவையானவற்றைப் பெற்றுக்கொடுப்பதற்கோ அல்லது மேலதிக இடத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொடுப்பதற்கோ கைமாறாக எதனையாவது எதிர்பார்க்கின்றார்கள்" எனவும் அந்த உதவி நிறுவனப் பணியாளர் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகின்றார். "இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டுக்கள் அனைத்தையும் முற்றிலும் தவறானவை" என திட்டவட்டமாக மறுக்கும் சிறிலங்கா வெளிவிவகாரச் செயலாளர் பாலித கோகன்ன, இருந்தபோதிலும் இது தொடர்பாக அரசு விசாரணைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது என்பதையும் உறுதிப்படுத்தினார். "படையினர் இந்தப் போரில் வெற்றிபெற்றுள்ளார்கள். அவர்கள் விரும்பியிருந்தால் அவர்கள் சென்ற பாதையில் ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணையும் பாலியல் பலாத்காரத்துக்கு உட்படுத்தியிருக்க முடியும். ஆனால் எந்த ஒரு பாலியல் வல்லுறவுச் சம்பவமும் இடம்பெறவில்லை" எனவும் 'த அவுஸ்திரேலியன்' நாளேட்டுக்கு அவர் தெரிவித்தார். இந்த முகாம்களில் உள்ள குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் தனித்தனியாகப் பிரிக்கப்பட்டு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர் எனக் குறிப்பிடும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் அதிகாரி ஒருவர், இதில் தமிழீழ விடுதலைப் புலிகள் அமைப்பின் போராளிகள் என நம்பப்படும் ஆண்களும், பெண்களும் அங்கிருந்து வேறு இடங்களுக்குக் கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள் எனத் தெரிவித்தார். இருந்தபோதிலும் அவர்கள் தனியாகக் கொண்டுசெல்லப்பட்டமை தொடர்பாக பெற்றோர் அல்லது பாதுகாவலர்களுக்கு பற்றுச்சீட்டுக்கள் வழங்கப்படுவது போன்ற இதற்கான உரிய ஆவணங்கள் எதுவும் பேணப்படுவதில்லை எனவும் அவர் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகின்றார். இந்தப் பிரச்சினைகள் தம்மைப் பொறுத்தவரையில் மிகப்பெரிய கவனத்துக்கு உரியவையாக இருப்பதாகத் தெரிவித்த அவர், நடமாடும் சுதந்திரம் மறுக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது சிறிலங்கா அரசியலமைப்பின் கீழேயே மனித உரிமையை மீறும் ஒரு செயலாகும் எனவும் சுட்டிக்காட்டினார். நடமாடும் சுதந்திரம் மறுக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது முகாம்களில் பெரும் நெருக்கடி நிலையை ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கின்றது. இதற்கு எதிராக மக்களும் கிளர்ந்தெழத் தொடங்கியுள்ளனர். குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் தனித்தனியாக வெவ்வேறு முகாம்களில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதால் தமது இரத்த உறவுகளைச் சந்திப்பதற்காக அவர்கள் மற்றைய முகாம்களுக்குச் செல்வதற்கு முற்படுகின்றார்கள். ஆனால் இதற்கு படையினர் அனுமதி மறுப்பது பதற்ற நிலையை ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கின்றது. இவ்வாறான ஒரு சம்பவத்தின் போதே கடந்த ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை இரண்டு அகதிகள் படையினரால் சுட்டுக்கொல்லப்பட்டதாக 'தமிழ்நெட்' இணையத்தளத்தில் வெளியான செய்தியையும் 'த அவுஸ்திரேலியன்' தனது கட்டுரையில் சுட்டிக்காட்டியிருக்கின்றது. இருந்தபோதிலும் இச்சம்பவத்தில் படையினர் வானை நோக்கியே துப்பாக்கிப் பிரயோகத்தை மேற்கொண்டதாகவும், இதில் அகதிகள் யாரும் கொல்லப்படவில்லை எனவும் உதவி நிறுவனப் பணியாளர்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். இருந்தபோதிலும் இச்சம்பவத்தையடுத்து இராமநாதன் முகாம் மற்றும் ஆனந்தக்குமாரசாமி முகாம் ஆகியவற்றுக்கிடையே அகதிகள் சென்றுவருவதை அனுமதிப்பது என்ற உடன்பாட்டுக்கு அதிகாரிகள் வந்திருக்கின்றனர். இதேவேளையில் இந்த முகாம்களின் நிலைமை படிப்படியாக அபிவிருத்தியடைந்து வருவதாகத் தெரிவிக்கும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் சிறிலங்காவுக்கான தூதுவர் நெயில் பூனே, இருந்தபோதிலும் அகதிகள் முகாம்களில் இருந்து வெளியே சென்று வருவதற்கு அனுமதிக்கப்படாமல் முகாம்களுக்குள்ளேயே முடக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதுதான் மிகப் பெரிய பிரச்சினையாக உள்ளது" எனவும் குறிப்பிட்டார். "இந்த முகாம்களில் உள்ள மக்களில் 80 வீதமானவர்கள் இந்த வருட இறுதிக்குள் தமது சொந்த இடங்களுக்குத் திருப்பியனுப்பப்பட்டுவிடுவார்கள் என சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் தெரிவிக்கின்றது எனச் சுட்டுக்காட்டும் அவர், இருந்தபோதிலும் அது மிகவும் கடினமான ஒரு இலக்காகவே இருக்கின்றது எனவும் குறிப்பிடுகின்றார்.

raped every single woman’

Sri Lankan government officials are running a prostitution racket using Tamil women interned in at least one of the militarised camps for displaced people, The Australian newspaper reported Thursday. "It's been brought to the attention of senior government officials but no one seems to be doing anything about it," an aid worker, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, told the paper. In response to the accusations, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Palitha Kohona told the paper: "These (the military) are the guys who were winning the war - they could have raped every single woman on the way if they wanted to. Not one single woman was raped."

Aid workers told The Australian that officials at the internally displaced people's camp in Pulmoddai, a remote northeast region, are running the prostitution ring using women kept in the camp.

"It's hard to know whether it's coercive or not, but there is an average of three families living to a tent and it can be extremely difficult trying to get privacy. You can imagine the military coming in and asking for something in return for more space or more favours," the aid worker said.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Palitha Kohona described the claims as "absolute rubbish", but confirmed the government was investigating the reports, the paper said.

"These (the military) are the guys who were winning the war - they could have raped every single woman on the way if they wanted to. Not one single woman was raped," Kohona told The Australian.

"I am sure in a mass of people there may be individuals who want to make a quick buck one way or another, but you have to remember the tents are so close together you can't do anything without the entire neighbourhood knowing. If you had a racket going, thousands of people would know about it."

A UN official said yesterday many families remained separated in the camps and that men and women believed to be Tamil Tiger fighters were being removed with "no due process or proper documentation, like arrest receipts, given to parents or guardians".

"These issues are of huge concern for us," the official said. "The lack of freedom of movement is a violation of human rights under Sri Lanka's own constitution."

The restrictions have heightened tensions in the camps, including a mass protest in the Ramanathan camp in the northern town of Vavuniya on Sunday in which IDPs tried to break down barbed-wire fences separating one camp zone - and many relatives - from another.

UN Sri Lanka co-ordinator Neil Buhne said camp conditions were slowly improving, thanks to better water and sanitation facilities.

"But the main thing is people are still inside these camps and they can't go anywhere. The government has made public commitments to get 80 per cent of people back to their homes by the end of the year (after separating civilians from the fighters) but that's going to be a difficult target to meet."
