Occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka silently grabs more lands in North
[TamilNet, Thursday, 15 October 2015, 06:56 GMT]
After securing secret deals with the major powers on the continuation of the occupying Sri Lanka Army as the lascarine force needed to maintain the artificial unity of the island coupled with the external ambitions of global domination, the new regime of the genocidal State in Colombo has encouraged its Gajaba Regiment to permanently seize more lands in the strategic enclave of Poonakari (Pooneryn), which is situated at the entrance to Jaffna Peninsula facing the Palk Bay. Similar occupation is also reported in Ki'laali, the former defence line situated on the other entry route to Jaffna through Vanni mainland. The SL military has been surveying the lands without the public noticing them along the coast of the Jaffna lagoon this week. However, landowners of Kailaayar-thoaddam in Poonakari confronted the SL military on Tuesday.

However, landowners of Kailaayar-thoaddam in Poonakari confronted the SL military on Tuesday.
The SL military has seized more than 70,000 acres of lands in North. But, the new regime in Colombo has been waging a propaganda campaign that it had released 1,100 acres in Jaffna and 652 acres in Vanni.
The SL military was long delaying public access to their coastal lands along Jaffna lagoon with the hidden agenda of permanently seizing the lands.
When the Gajaba Regiment of the SL military brought survey department officials to a 16-acre land at Kailaayar-thoaddam, the original owners took to the streets accompanied by the villagers in blocking them.
Earlier in 2013, the Gajaba Regiment commanders of the occupying SL military had summoned the landowners to their base and instructed the civilians to put their signatures in some documents at gunpoint.
Now, the SL military officers are claiming that they have already ‘purchased’ or ‘obtained’ these lands for military use and that they want to proceed with measures to permanently establish their bases.
The owners of lands at Ki'laali
told TamilNet on Wednesday that they were unable to protest as they were
not aware of the silent surveying taking place at Ki'laali.
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the former defence secretary under the Rajapaksa regime, had instructed the Gajaba Regiment to occupy the lands in the strategic location. (Gotabhaya was commanding the 1st Gajaba Regiment between 1983 and 1990 before he retired and settled in the USA.)
The Gajaba Regiment, comprising a total of 24 battalions, claims itself as the regiment that had produced the majority of commanders who were deployed in Vanni war. A few of these commanders, Major General Shavendra Silva and Major General Jagath Dias, have already received international ‘reputation’ for their crimes.
The people in Poonakari and Ki'laali complain that this Gajaba Regiment is scheming permanent occupation of their lands.
