Kathirkaamam festival postponed, pilgrims on foot from Jaffna stranded midway

Saivaites in the country of Eezham Tamils have expressed deep concern over the sudden change of dates of the annual festival of the Kathirkaamam Murukan Koyil this year without any notice to them. Hundreds of Saiva devotees who are on foot pilgrimage that commenced last month from Jaffna Chella Channithi Murugan Koyil via districts of Killinochchi and Mullaithivu to reach Kathirkaamam on the day of flag hoisting that was to take place on July 8 have been stranded in midway in the districts of Trincomalee and Batticaloa with the announcement of the new dates by the Kathirkaamam Koyil administration that is now exclusively Sinhala-Buddhist.

According to tradition and according to the Hindu Pagnchaangkam (Almanac) issued by the Hindu Cultural Affairs Ministry, this year's Kathirkaamam festival was to begin on July 8 with the flag hoisting ceremony and was to end with the Water-Cutting Ceremony on the Full Moon Day falling on July 22.

But this year, the Kathirkaamam Koyil administration headed by the Basanayake Nilame and Kapuralas has announced that the festival would begin on August 7 with flag hoisting and would end with the water cutting festival on the August 21 Full Moon Day.

The change of time table has been announced without even giving notice and reason to Sri Lanka's own ‘Hindu Cultural Affairs Department’ that comes under the Buddha Sasana Ministry and Religious Affairs. Hindu Cultural Affairs Department sources said that the date of Kathirkaamam Koyil festival had been changed without intimation to them.

Until a few decades ago, majority of the pilgrims who used to gather at Kathirkaamam was Tamils. Since time immemorial, the Jaffna Tamil devotees start their pilgrimage on foot from the Chella-Channathi Murukan temple and walk along the eastern coast to reach Kathirkaamam. They return via walking along the western coast, thus making a complete round of the island in the clockwise direction. They have a particular schedule and traditional halting places. With the changed announcement that has now completely ignored Tamils, the pilgrims stranded in the midway halting places are puzzled whether to abandon the pilgrimage or to stay in the halting places for a month.

நமது நிருபர் சென்னை, ஆக. 10: இலங்கையில் உள்ள புகழ்பெற்ற கதிர்காமம் முருகன் கோயிலை புத்த பிக்குகள் தங்களின் முழுமையான கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளனர் என்று தகவல் அறிந்த வட்டாரங்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன. இக்கோயிலின் அருகே சிறிய புத்தர் கோயிலையும் கட்டியுள்ளனர். இது இலங்கையில் வசிக்கும் தமிழர்களை மிகவும் வேதனை அடைய வைத்துள்ளது. இலங்கையின் தெற்குப் பகுதியில் உள்ள கதிர்காமத்தில் உள்ள முருகன் கோயில் மிகவும் புகழ் பெற்றது. இலங்கைத் தமிழர்கள் மட்டுமல்லாது பல்வேறு நாடுகளில் உள்ள தமிழர்களும் இங்கு வந்து வழிபடுவது வழக்கம். சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இந்தக் கோயிலின் நிர்வாகப் பொறுப்பை பித்த பிக்குகள் கைகளுக்கு இலங்கை அரசு மாற்றியது. இப்போது பூஜை செய்யும் உரிமையும் தமிழர்களிடம் இருந்து பறிக்கப்பட்டு புத்த பிட்சுகளே பூஜை செய்கின்றனர். வழக்கமான முறைப்படி பூஜை செய்யாமல் வெறும் ஊதுபத்தியை மட்டுமே புத்த பிக்குகள் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர். அதுமட்டுமல்லாது கதிர்காமம் முருகன் கோயிலுக்கு அருகிலேயே சிறிய புத்தர் கோயிலையும் அமைத்து அங்கு சில புத்த பிக்குகள் நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்க ஆரம்பித்துள்ளனர் என்கிறார் முருகன் கோயில் அருகே உள்ள தெய்வானை அம்மன் கோயிலை நிர்வகித்து வரும் சுவாமி விஞ்ஞானனந்தா. காசியைச் சேர்ந்த இவர் பல ஆண்டுகளாக இந்தக் கோயிலை நிர்வகித்து வருகிறார். தெய்வானை கோயிலையும் கைப்பற்ற புத்த பிக்குகள் முயற்சித்து வருகின்றனர். இது தொடர்பான வழக்கு இலங்கை நீதிமன்றத்தில் நடந்து வருகிறது. கதிர்காமம் முருகன் கோயில் புத்த பிக்குகளின் பிடியில் சிக்கியிருப்பது இலங்கைத் தமிழர்களை கவலை அடைய வைத்துள்ளது. இதுதவிர இலங்கையின் தேயிலைத் தோட்டங்களில் உள்ள கோயில்களும் புத்த ஆலயங்களாக மாற்றப்பட்டு வருகின்றன என்றும் தெரிய வருகிறது. 15 நாள்கள் இலங்கையின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் சுற்றுப்பயணம் செய்துவிட்டு திங்கள்கிழமை சென்னை திரும்பியவர் இந்தத் தகவல்களை உறுதிப்படுத்தினார்.

½) இன் தொடர்ச்சி மக்களுக்கு நம்பிக்கை புகலிடமான கோயில்களில் கை வைக்கும் பொழுது கூட இங்குள்ள இந்து சமயத் தலைவர்கள் உலக எதிர்ப்பைத் திரட்டா விடடால் சமயத் தலைவர்கள் என்று ஏன் உலா வர வேண்டும் என்று தெரியவில்லை? சப்பானிய புத்த ஆலயங்களில கூட முருகன் உருவச் சிலைகள் இருக்கும் பொழுது போலிப் புத்தர்கள் திருமுருகன் திருக்கோயிலைப் புத்த ஆலயமாக மாற்றுவது முறையல்ல. அயோத்திக்கு ஆர்ப்பரிக்கும் சமயத்தலைவர்களும் அமைப்பினரும் தொன்மை வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்பு மிக்க கதிர்காமர் கோயில் முதலான தமிழ்த் தெய்வ உறைவிடங்கள் கைப்பற்றப்படுவது குறித்துக் கவலைப்பட மாட்டார்கள். உண்மையான இறைப் பற்றாளரகளும் இனப் பற்றாளர்களும் உலகத்தின் கவனத்தை ஈர்த்து இவ்வழிவுகளை நிறுத்த முயல வேண்டும்.

1/2) வழிபடும் இடமாக மட்டும் அல்லாமல் மக்களுக்கு அடைக்கலம் தரும் இல்லமாகவும் திகழ்ந்த புகழ் மிகுந்த கதிர்காமர் கோயில் பற்றிய செய்தி மட்டும் இப்பொழுது கவனத்திற்கு வருகிறது. முல்லைத் தீவை நாசப்படுத்திக் கைப்பற்றியவுடன் சிங்களப் பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சர் இங்குள்ள நீர் நிலைகள் முழுமையும் புத்த தடாகைகள் ; கோயில்கள் அனைத்தும் 'புத்த விகாரங்கள்'. இது குறி்த்து வரலாற்றுச் செய்திகளை வெளியிடுவோம் எனப் பொய்க் கதைகளை அவிழ்த்து விட்டார். தமிழர் பகுதிகள் அனைத்திலும் சிங்களப் பெயர்ப்பலகைகள் மட்டும் அணி செய்து வரும் புதிய மாற்றங்கள் குறித்தும் படச் செய்திகள் வந்தன. வன்முறையி னால் இனப் படுகொலை செய்தது போதாது என்று வதை முகாம்களில் உள்ளவர்களை விசாரணைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று கொல்வதும் நடைபெறுவதாகச் சிங்களச் செய்திகளே தெரிவிக்கின்றன. குடும்பக் கட்டுப்பாடு முகாம்கள் என்ற போர்வையில் கட்டாய இன அழிப்பு நடவடிக்கையிலும் சிங்கள அரசு ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறது. இவ்வாறான பண்பாட்டு மொழி அழிப்பு குறித்தும் இன அழிப்பு குறித்தும் இந்தியா கண்டிக்காததன் காரணம் சிங்கள அழிப்புப் பணிகளுக்கு வித்தாயும் விழுதாயும் காங். அரசும் இன அழிப்பு அதிகாரிகளும் நடந்து கொள்வதுதான்.

This all done by Italy madam who is not a Hindu person,she doesn't know the Hindu philosophy and the sin if any one do wrong thing in his or her human life. It is bad consequences for the entire Tamil and Hindy community. If Sri Murugan has a power , HE can change any things in order. Till Sri Murugan come we all Tamil look up the sky and wait for the Hindu temples back to in Hundus lands instead of Buddist Temple.

Normal circumstances the mighty Hidustan would have defended their religion. Under Italian Catholic, Bar maid´s Rule. Hindus are distroyed. I don´t understand how come the Interlectuals India are permitting this. I can understand poor massses selling their votes for money. Karunanithy prostituting for Ministrial for his family. Chithambaram for his political gains. How about the others who are patriotic to India. Why don´t you topple this corrupt Government before China gains full control of Indian Ocean call it Chinese Ocean. Wake up Indian Interlectuals.
