உலகின் மிக உயரமான மலை உச்சியான எவரெசுட்டு சிகரத்தில் ஏறி தமிழக இளைஞர் சென்னையைச் சேர்ந்த எசு..சந்தோசுகுமார் (வயது27) சாதனை படைத்துள்ளார். இமயமலையின் எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை சென்றடைந்ததும் கையில் எடுத்து சென்ற 'தமிழ் வாழ்க' என்ற பேனரை நெஞ்சில் ஏந்தியபடி தமிழ் வாழ்க என்று சத்தமாக முழக்கமிட்டுள்ளார்.

இந்த சாதனையை கேட்டு அவரது குடும்பத்தினர் மட்டுமில்லாமல் ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழகமுமே பெருமை கொண்டது. இந்த சாதனை தமிழர் 'தினத்தந்தி'க்கு அளித்த சிறப்பு பேட்டி வருமாறு:-

எனது பூர்வீகம் புதுச்சேரி. ஆனால், சென்னையில் வளர்ந்தேன். படித்ததும் இங்குதான். எனது அப்பா சங்கரன் துபாயில் வங்கி அதிகாரியாக இருக்கிறார். அம்மா அமுதா இல்லத்தரசி. தங்கை அபிநயா துபாயில் இளங்கலை பட்டம் படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். பிளஸ் டூ வரை சென்னையில் படித்த நான், சிங்கப்பூரில் பி.இ. (எலக்ட்ரிக்கல் என்ஜினீயரிங்) பட்டம் பெற்றேன். எனக்கு இயல்பாகவே ஓட்டத்திலும், சைக்கிளில் நீண்டதூரம் செல்வதும் பிடிக்கும்.

சிங்கப்பூரில் உள்ள 'பார்கலேஸ் கேபிடல்' வங்கியில் திட்ட அதிகாரியாக வேலை பார்த்து வருகிறேன். அங்கிருந்தபோது வெளிநாட்டு நண்பர் ஒருவர் அறிமுகமானார். அவர் மூலம் மலை ஏற்ற பயணத்தில் ஆர்வம் ஏற்பட்டது. முதல் முதலில் அவருடன் சேர்ந்து 2006-ம் ஆண்டு இந்தோனேஷியாவில் கடல் மட்டத்தில் இருந்து 9188 அடி உயரத்தில் உள்ள 'ரிஞ்சானி' என்ற மலையில் ஏறினேன். மலை உச்சிக்கு செல்ல 2 நாட்கள் ஆனது.

அதையடுத்து சிங்கப்பூரில் மலையேற்ற பயணம் தொடர்பான பயிற்சி எடுத்து கொண்டேன். பிறகு 2008-ம் ஆண்டு ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் 19340 அடி உயரத்தில் உள்ள 'கிளிமஞ்சாரோ' என்ற சிகரத்திற்கு 6 நாட்களில் சென்றேன். இதையடுத்து எவரெஸ்ட் மலை அடிவாரத்திற்கு (பேஸ் கேம்ப்) 2009-ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் மாதம் 5 பேருடன் சென்றேன்.

கடல் மட்டத்தில் இருந்து 18 ஆயிரம் அடி உயரத்தில் உள்ள இந்த அடிவாரத்திற்கு 12 நாட்களில் போய் சேர்ந்தோம். அங்கிருந்து எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை பார்த்தபோது அதன் அழகில் மயங்கினேன். அந்த பனி மலையில் ஏறி சாதனை படைக்க வேண்டும் என்ற வேகமும் அப்போதே ஏற்பட்டது.

12 ஆயிரம் கிலோ பொருட்களுடன்...

பின்னர் திபெத் நாட்டில் உள்ள உலகத்தில் 6-வது உயரமான பனிமலையில் (26900 அடி உயரம்) ஏறினேன். இந்த மலை உச்சிக்கு செல்ல 40 நாட்கள் ஆனது. அப்போதுதான் எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை ஏறி விட முடியும் என்ற நம்பிக்கை துளிர்த்தது. அதைத்தொடர்ந்து கடல் மட்டத்தில் இருந்து 29035 அடி உயரத்தில் உள்ள உலகின் மிக உயரமான எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை ஏறுவதற்கு ஆயத்தமானேன். நிறைய பணம் செலவாகும் என்பதால் விளம்பரதாரரும், உரிய பயிற்சியும் தேவைப்பட்டது. அப்பா, அம்மா, தங்கை, உறவினர்கள், நண்பர்கள் என்னை மிகவும் ஊக்கப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தில் ஏறி சாதனை படைப்பதற்காக கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் 29-ந் தேதி சென்னையில் இருந்து விமானம் மூலம் நேபாள நாட்டு தலைநகர் காத்மாண்டு போனேன். அடுத்தநாள் அங்கிருந்து இமயமலை அடிவாரத்தில் உள்ள லுக்லா கிராமத்திற்கு நான் உள்பட 7 பேர் போனோம். மற்ற 6 பேரும் ஜெர்மனி, அமெரிக்கா, கனடா, தென் ஆப்பிரிக்காவை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் ஆவர். எங்களுடன் வந்த மற்றவர்களையும் சேர்த்தால் மொத்தம் 24 பேர்.

எவரெஸ்ட் போய் வர 60 நாட்கள்

எங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தில் ஏறி, இறங்கி வருவதற்கு தேவையான உணவு உள்ளிட்ட பொருட்களின் மொத்த எடை 12 ஆயிரம் கிலோ. எவரெஸ்ட் மலை அடிவாரத்திற்கு (பேஸ் கேம்ப்) இந்தப் பொருட்கள் மாடுகள், ஆட்கள், ஹெலிகாப்டர் மூலம் எடுத்து வரப்பட்டன. பின்னர் அங்கிருந்து நாங்கள் சாட்டிலைட் போன், சோலார் சார்ஜர், சாப்பாடு, ஆக்ஸிஜன் பாட்டில்கள் ஆகியவற்றை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு புறப்பட்டோம்.

தினமும் 6 மணி நேரம் நடந்தோம். 12 நாட்களில் எவரெஸ்ட் மலை அடிவாரத்தை சென்றடைந்தோம். அதற்கு மேலே மொத்தம் 4 கேம்ப்கள் உள்ளன. பனிப்பாறைகள் அந்தப் பகுதியில் காக்காவை மட்டும் காண முடிந்தது. சில குருவிகளும் கண்ணில் தென்பட்டன. அப்போதுதான் பறவைகள் குறிப்பாக காகம் இவ்வளவு உயரத்திற்கு வருகிறதே என்று ஆச்சரியப்பட்டேன். கடுங்குளிர் வாட்டி வதைத்தது. ஆக்ஸிஜனும் குறைவாக இருந்ததால் உடல்நலம் பாதித்தது. ஆக்ஸிஜன் பாட்டில்கள் அப்போது கைகொடுத்தன. சூரியன் சுட்டெரித்ததில் எனது முகத்தில் காயம் ஏற்பட்டது. இருந்தாலும் எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தில் ஏறி சாதிப்பது என்ற மனஉறுதியும், வேகமும் கொஞ்சமும் குறையவில்லை.

எதிர்கால லட்சியம்

எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை நெருங்க, நெருங்க மலையின் அழகு பிரமிக்க வைத்தது. நிலவும், நட்சத்திரங்களும் மிக அருகில் இருப்பதாக உணர்ந்தோம். எங்களுடன் வந்த 24 பேரில் 15 பேர் மட்டுமே எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தில் ஏறி சாதனை படைத்தோம். அந்த மலை உச்சியில் ஏறியதும் தமிழன் என்ற உணர்வில் கையில் எடுத்துச் சென்ற 'தமிழ் வாழ்க' என்ற பேனரை நெஞ்சில் ஏந்தி 'தமிழ் வாழ்க' என்ற உரக்க முழக்கமிட்டேன். மற்றவர்களும் அவரவர் நாட்டின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி மகிழ்ந்தனர். எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தைஏறுவதற்கு 55 நாட்கள் ஆனது. 5 நாட்களிலே கீழே இறங்கி வந்துவிட்டோம்.

ஆசியாவில் உள்ள மிக உயரமான எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரம் உள்பட இதுவரை 3 கண்டங்களில் உள்ள உயரமான சிகரங்களில் ஏறிவிட்டேன். இவை தவிர அண்டார்டிகா, ஆஸ்திரேலியா, தென் அமெரிக்கா, வட அமெரிக்கா ஆகிய 4 கண்டங்களில் உள்ள உயரமான சிகரங்களில் ஏறி மொத்தம் 7 கண்டங்களில் உள்ள சிகரங்களிலும் ஏறி சாதனை படைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே எனது லட்சியம்.

இவ்வாறு சந்தோஷ்குமார் கூறினார்.

சந்தோஷ்குமாரின் சாதனையை நினைத்து பெருமைப்படுகிறோம் என்று அவரது தாய் அமுதாவும், பாட்டி மகாலட்சுமியும் கூறினார்கள். சந்தோஷ்குமாருக்கு முன்னதாக 1997-ம் ஆண்டு கோவையைச் சேர்ந்த பி.சண்முகவடிவேலு என்பவர் தனது 28-வது வயதில் எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தில் ஏறி சாதனை படைத்துள்ளார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

தற்போது வயது பன்னிரண்டு(பிறந்த தேதி:23.05.2000). பதினொரு வயதிலேயே IQ லெவல் 225. நம்ப முடிகிறதா? நம்பத்தான் வேண்டும். ஏனெனில், விசாலினி படைத்துள்ளது உலக சாதனை.கின்னஸ் சாதனையாளரான கிம்-யுங்-யோங்கின் (Kim Ung-Yong) I.Q. அளவான 210 என்பதைவிட, இது இன்னும் அதிகம்.

இந்தியா அதுவும் தமிழகம் என்பதால் தான் இன்னும் இவள் புகழ் பரவவில்லை. இன்னொரு நாடென்றால், இவளை இதற்குள் உலகமறிய பாராட்டியிருப்பார்கள்.

Dear Friends, Check the protests by our North-East students for the linguistic rights in Delhi University. Recently launched a protest asking Delhi University to stop indirectly imposing Hindi. Students released memorandum to Ministry of HRD, you could see the excerpt of it below and full copy in the link.

Its Good to see youth from North-East actively voicing against Hindi imposition, and we already have many North-East Friends in this ca. 1000 membered group. Hopefully youth from various linguistic groups could start networking with each other, towards our common goal of bringing constitutional amendment that no single language is sole official language of union, all 8th Schedule Languages are official language of union and the lethargy of updating 8th schedule list must be condemned and be updated regularly.

Excerpt From NEFIS Memorandum:

Respected Sir,

We are submitting this memorandum to register our deeply felt sense of resentment against the new course structure that is to be introduced by Delhi University next academic year onward. It has come to our notice that as per the requirements of the new course structure it would become compulsory for every student to learn either Hindi or one of the Modern Indian Languages (MIL) as part of the foundational course. [please see Annexure I attached herewith has acopy of the new proposed syllabus displayed on Delhi University website.] Sir,we are certain that your good office is aware of the fact that MILs consist only of the languages recognized by the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India which consists of Assamese/Axomiya, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri,Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri (also Meitei or Meithei), Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi,Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Even from this narrow list, the university has the infrastructure/faculty to offer only a very small number of languages. This means that the languages of a number of communities from all parts of India and particularly the North-East would not be offered to the students by the university. We consider this dismal situation a result, not of the inadequacy of our respective languages but a by-product of the long standing bias and neglect on part of the government of India and the respective state governments in ensuring that the distinct cultural identity and dignity of the marginal/minoritygroups and communities is preserved. The fact that the languages of so many communities/marginal groups is not given due recognition is not accidental but the unfortunate result of the insolent attitude of an arrogant state that chooses to impose its culture and language upon marginal groups/communities inthe manner of a haughty conqueror.

Students from the North-East, if they are forced to opt for the compulsory language course,they would either fail the examination or would pass put with lower grades. If this is allowed to happen then the disadvantage of the youth from the North-East in seeking jobs in the labour market would become worse.

Sir, it is high time that the government recognizes our right to equality of opportunity with the students from the rest of thecountry. The government and the institutions run by it cannot shirk from their responsibility to pay particular attention to the special needs of the vulnerable sections of the society, but so far the attitude of the University administration has been most disappointing. Despite three protests and the submission of a memorandum by us, the University administration did not deem it necessary to even reply to us and instead treated us like criminals. Gates to the dean’s office, which usually remain open for thorough fare, were shut in our faces, tight security was clamped down, heavily armed police was called in and we were video recorded every time we tried to meet the Dean or theVice-Chancellor to convey our message. The security guards hurled dirty abuses upon us and some of us were even manhandled. Apart from this the University administration has even been resorting to making individual telephone calls and intimidation of our organizers. This is hardly a record becoming of the premier institution of learning of a country that claims itself to be the world’s largest democracy. Sir it is not the sheer size that makes a country great, the spirit of inclusiveness and sensitivity toward the vulnerable sections are by far the much more important criteria. The repressive tactics used by the University administration has lead us to lose faith that the institutions run by the government of India are capable of living up to the highest standards ofdemocratic spirit and inclusiveness that the oppressed minorities of thiscountry expect of it.

We appeal to the good office of your officeto kindly intervene into this matter and ensure the following:
1. Make the compulsory Hindi/MIL course optional.
2. Take immediate steps to develop the infrastructure, adequate faculty and syllabus for the MILs presently offered by the University.
3. Immediately look into the matter of students who were illegally forced to take the compulsory Hindi exam in the older format resulting in their failure in the University examination and ensure that they are provided the best possible remedy
4. Provide other kinds of remedies/reliefs that this ministry may deem fit, apt and just to ensure the welfare of the affected students.

The Genocide conducted by Rajapakshe at SriLanka is condemned by the people throughout the world and almost the entire humankind is pressing the U.N. to conduct an impartial enquiry about the sufferings of the Eezham Tamils.

Corruption has reached such levels that it is becoming impossible for the common man to survive. In Delhi, It is becoming impossible for them to even pay water and electricity bills which are highly inflated on account of corruption. The story of Delhi could well be the story of India. The time has come for people to rise up together and say that they will not allow this corruption.

To give people strength to protest, to remove fear from their minds and join the civil disobedience movement I have been sitting on an indefinite fast at a jhuggi colony in Sundar-nagri , New Delhi since 23rd March. More than 9 lakh people of Delhi and several eminent and patriotic citizens of the country such as Shri Annaji Hazare , Justice Krishna Iyer, Admiral Ramdas and Shri J.M. Lyngdoh have already pledged support towards this campaign.

Gandhiji said that politics devoid of honesty and spirituality is disastrous for the country. We have to change the politics of this country. I am confident that together, we can.

I seek your time and money in this mission as we are all working towards a common cause. Most parties are funded by big corporates for something in return but this will not happen in Aam Aadmi Party. This party would be funded by Aam Aadmi and Aam Aurat of this country. That would be the beginning of an honest and transparent politics, unfortunately which runs on black money today

நம் நாடு தமிழ்நாடு என எண்ணக்கூடாது என்பதற்கான சான்றுதான் இப்பெயர்ப்பட்டியல். பதிவிற்கு நன்றி. இந்நேரத்தில் நான் என் கட்டுரை ஒன்றின் பகுதியைப் பதிவது பொருத்தமாக இருக்கும் எனக் கருதுகிறேன். புதுவை மொழியியல் பண்பாட்டு ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனம் 1996 நவம்பரில் நடத்திய ‘தமிழ் ஆட்சிமொழி : சிக்கல்களும் தீர்வுகளும்’ என்னும் தலைப்பில் நடத்திய கருத்தரங்கத்தில் ‘’தமிழ் ஆட்சிமொழிச் செயலாக்கம் - ஓர் இனிய கனவு’’ என்னும் தலைப்பில் நான் அளித்த கட்டுரையின் ஒரு பகுதி. (இதன் முழுமையையும் முன்பே முனைவர் அருள் நடராசன் கேட்டிருந்தார்.)
பெயர் சூட்டல்
தெருக்கள், குடியிருப்புப் பகுதிகள், நகர்கள் முதலியவற்றிற்குப் பெயர் சூட்டும் பொழுது ஊராட்சி, பேரூராட்சி, நகராட்சி, மாநாகராட்சி அமைப்புகள் தமிழ் வளர்ச்சித் துறையினரின் ஒப்புதலைப் பெறுவதில்லை. அவற்றைத் தமிழ் வளர்ச்சி இயக்குநருக்குத் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆணையை மாற்றித் தமிழ் வளர்ச்சி இயக்குநரின் ஒப்புதல் பெற வேண்டும் என ஆணை பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டும் பின்பற்றுவதில்லை. எனவே, எலலாம் அயல்மொழியாய் மாறி வருகிறது. ஊர்தோறும் பதவிப் பெயர்களைக் கொண்டு நகர்களுக்குப் பெயர் சூட்டுகின்றனர். எனவே, என்.சீ.ஓ.காலனி, டி.ஆர்.ஓ.காலனி, தாசில்தார் காலனி, சர்வேயர் காலனி, எஞ்சினீயர் காலனி, போன்று அயல்மொழிப் பெயர்கள் இடம் பெற்று விடுகின்றன. இருக்கின்ற தமிழ்ப்பெயர்களையும் திருத்தமாக எழுதுவதில்லை. பிற மாநிலங்கள், நாடுகளில் பெயர்களை அவரவர் மொழிக்கேற்ப திருத்தமாக எழுத வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் அமைந்து தொடர்பான ஆணைகள் உடனடியாக நிறைவேற்றப்படுகின்றன. தமிழ்நாட்டில்தான் ஆணைகள் பெயரளவு ஆணைகளாக இருக்கின்றன. எதிர்ப்புக் குரல்கள் பெரிதுபடுத்தப்படுகின்றன. பிற மாநிலங்களில் இவ்வாறு எதிராகக் கூறுவோர் விரட்டப்படுவார்கள் என்ற அச்சத்தாலும் மண்ணிற்கேற்ப ஒத்துப்போவோம் என்ற உணர்வினாலும் அமைதியாக இருக்கின்றனர். இங்கே பெயர் மாற்றத்தால் தமிழ் வளர்ந்துவிடுமா என்ற குரல்தான் ஒலிக்கிறதே தவிர, தமிழ் வளர்ச்சியில் பெயர்மாற்றமும் தமிழ்ப்பெயர் சூட்டலும் சிறப்பான இடத்தை வகிக்கின்றன என்பது உணர்த்தப்படுவதில்லை. பெயர் மாற்றம் தொடர்பான முழு உரிமையும் நம் அரசிற்கு வேண்டும். தகவல் மட்டும் நடுவணரசிற்குத் தொடர் நடவடிக்கைக்காகத் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும்.

தமிழ்ப் பெயர் சூட்டப்படும் பொது நோக்கத்தைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் உள்ளவர்களே மிகுதியாக உள்ளனர். பாரதிதாசன் பல்கலைக்கழகம் என்பது ‘பீடி யுனிவர்சிட்டி’ எனச் சுருக்கப்படுவதுபோல் சுருக்கப்படக்கூடாது என்னும் நிலை வர வேண்டும். பேரறிஞர் அண்ணா தலைமைச் செயலகம் எனக் குறிப்பிட்டது செகரட்டேரியட்டை மட்டும்தான் என்று கூறி இன்றுவரை செயிண்ட்சார்சு கோட்டை எனக் குறிப்பவர்களே மிகுதியாக உள்ளனர். செயலக முகவரிகள், அமைச்சர்களின் மடலேடுகள், விளம்பரங்கள் ஆகியவற்றிலும் இவ்வாறு குறிக்கப்படுவதை நாம் காணலாம். தலைமைச் செயலகம் தவிர, நடுவணரசின் அலுவலகங்கள், பல துறை அலுவலகங்கள் உள்ளன என்பது உண்மைதான். ஏன் அவர்கள் தலைமைச் செயலக வளாகம் எனக் குறித்திருக்கக்கூடாதா? இத்தகைய போக்குகளைப் போக்க, தமிழருக்கே உரிய ஐந்நிலப் பாகுபாட்டின் சிறப்பை உணர்த்த, ஐந்திணைக் கோட்டை என்று பெயர் சூட்டக்கூ்டாதா? அல்லது தமிழ்க்கோட்டை என்று அழைக்கக்கூடாதா?
பெரும்பாலான அமைச்சர்கள் குடியிருக்கும் தெருவின் பெயர் ‘கிரீன்வேய்சு சாலை’ என்றுதான் இருக்க வேண்டுமா? பைந்தமிழ்ச்சாலை என்று பெயர் மாற்றக்கூடாதா? வெள்ளையர் தெரு, கறுப்பர் தெரு என்ற இனப்பாகுபாடு தேவைதானா? வெள்ளிவீதியார் தெரு அல்லது வெள்ளை நாகனார் தெரு, கார் நாற்பது தெரு, எனப் புலவர்கள், நூல்கள் பெயர்களைச் சூட்டலாமே! இன்னும் பொருத்தம் இல்லாத பெயர்கள் பல உள்ளன. காவல் ஆணையர் அலுவலகத் தெருவில் அவ்வலுவலகமே இப்பொழுது இல்லை. சங்கப்புலவர் காவற்பெண்டு பெயரைச்சூட்டலாமே! மேலும் அவ்வாறான பெயர்கள் தமிழில் அமையாமையால் அவற்றின் அடிப்படையிலான பேருந்து நிறுத்தங்கள், கடைகள், அலுவலகங்கள் முதலியனவும் அயல்மொழிப் பெயரில் அமைந்து விடுகின்றன. எடுத்துக் காட்டாக முனிசிபல் காலனி மதுரையில் உள்ளது. அப்பெயரில் அஞ்சலகம் உள்ளது. (மதுரை, மாநாகராட்சி ஆன பின்பும் இப்பெயர் நீடிப்பதே தவறு.) திருச்சிராப்பள்ளியில் மெயின்கார்டுகேட் உள்ளது. (மேல வாயில், கீழ வாசல் போல) தலை வாயில் அல்லது தலைவாசல் எனலாமே! இருக்கின்ற பெயர்களை மொழி பெயர்த்துக் கொண்டிராமல் ஒத்து வரக்கூடிய அல்லது முற்றிலும் புதிய தமிழ்ப்பெயர்களை, ஆங்கிலப் பெயர் உள்ள இடஙகளுக்குச் சூட்ட வேண்டும். உணர்வே இல்லாத மக்கள் நிறைந்துள்ள தமிழ்நாட்டில் வெறும் அரசாணைகளால் என்ன பயன்?

1400 ஆண்டுகால அதிசயமாகத் திகழும் சூரிய ஒளிக் கடிகாரம்!

காலம் எதற்காகவும், யாருக்காகவும் நிற்பதில்லை... ஆனால், காலத்தால் அழியாத படைப்புகள்... பன்னெடுங்காலத்திற்கும் பெருமையை பறைசாற்றி வருகின்றன. அந்த வகையில் கும்பகோணம் அருகே உள்ள கோவில் ஒன்றில், சூரிய ஒளியால் இயங்கும் கடிகாரம் இன்றளவும் பார்ப்பவர்களுக்கு ஆச்சரியமான விஷயமாக இருந்து வருகிறது. கும்பகோணம் அருகே உள்ள திருவிசநல்லூரில் சோழர் காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்ட சிவயோகிநாதர் சிவன்கோவிலின் சுற்றுச்சுவரில் இந்த சூரிய ஒளி கடிகாரம் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. கிட்டதட்ட 1400 ஆண்டுகால பழமையான கோவிலில் உள்ள இந்த கடிகாரத்தின் மையப்பகுதியில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ஆணி, சூரிய ஒளியில் பட்டு நிழலாக விழுகிறது.


இந்த நிழல் விழும் பகுதிகள் காலை சூரியன் உதிக்கும் 6 மணி முதல் மாலை சூரியன் மறையும் 6 மணி வரை ஒவ்வொரு மணிநேரத்தையும் துல்லியமாக காட்டுகிறது.ஆகம விதிப்படி ஒவ்வொரு கோவிலிலும் 12 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை திருப்பணிகள் நடைபெற்று குடமுழுக்கும் நடைபெற வேண்டும்... ஆனால் 62 ஆண்டுகளாக இந்த கோவிலில் திருப்பணிகளும் நடக்காமல், குடமுழுக்கும் நடைபெறாமல் இருக்கிறது. இதனால் பாழடைந்த நிலையில் உள்ள கோவிலை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டுகோள் விடுக்கிறார்கள் இந்த பகுதி மக்கள்.. தவறாமல் காலம் காட்டும் இந்த கடிகாரத்தின் எதிர்காலத்தை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்று அவர்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுக்கிறார்கள்.

காலம் செல்லச்செல்ல அசோகப்பேரரசின் காலத்தில் அவரது மகன் மகேந்திரனும் சங்கமித்திராவும் துறவு மேற்க்கொண்டு,மதபிரச்சாரத்திற்காக இலங்கைக்கு வந்தனர்.இங்கே மக்கள் காட்டுமிராண்டிகளாக வாழ்வதைக் கண்டார்கள்.அவர்களை நாகரீகம் உடையவர்களாக மாற்றி அவர்களுக்காக தங்கள் வாழ்நாளை அர்ப்பணித்தார்கள்.அவர்களை புத்தமதத்திற்கு மாற்றினர்.இலங்கையின் நடுவில் ஒரு நகரத்தைஉருவாக்கி அதை அனுராதபுரம் என்று பெயரிட்டனர்.இன்று பாழ்பட்டு கிடக்கும் அந்த நகரத்தை காண்பவர்கள் திகைத்து நிற்பர்.உயரமான ஸ்துாபிகளும் பாழ்பட்டுகிடக்கும் இடிந்த கருங்கல் கட்டிடங்களும் பல மைல்துரம் இன்றும் காணப்படுகிறது.மழித்த தலையுடன் மஞ்சள்நிற ஆடையுடன் ஆண்பெண் துறவிகள் பிச்சைப் பாத்திரத்துடன் இலங்கைமுழுவதும் காணப்பட்டனர்.

மாபெரும் கோவில்கள் எழுந்தன.உள்ளே புத்தரின் தியானநிலை,நீதிநெறியைபோதிப்பது போன்ற நிலை மற்றும் மகாநிர்வாணநிலை என பல்வேறு விக்கிரகங்கள் உ்ள்ளன.
இலங்கைவாசிகளும் தங்கள் கைவண்ணத்தை காட்டியுள்ளார்கள்.தீங்குசெய்பவர்களுக்கு தண்டனைகொடுப்பது,வாளால் அறுப்பது,சாட்டையால் அடிப்பது,கொதிக்கும் எண்ணையில் போடுவது,தோலை உரிப்பது போன்ற சித்திரங்கள் சுவர்களில் வரையப்பட்டுள்ளன.அகிம்சையை போதிக்கும் மதத்தில் இத்தகைய கொடுமைகளுக்கு இடம் இருக்கும் என்றால் யாராவது நம்பமுடியுமா?சீனாவிலும்,ஜப்பானிலும்கூட இதேபோல் தான் அவர்கள் பேசுவதோ அகிம்சை ஆனால் அவர்கள் கொடுக்கும் தண்டனைகளைப்பார்த்தால் ரத்தம் உறைந்துபோகும்.

பௌத்தர்கள் மிகவும் சாதுவானவர்கள்,எல்லா மதங்களையும் மதிப்பவர்கள் என நாம் கேள்விப்படுகிறோம்.ஆனால் உண்மையில் அவ்வாறு இல்லை,அவர்கள் நம்மைகண்டால் பழிக்கிறார்கள்
நான் ஒருமுறை தமிழர்களிடையே அனுராதபுரத்தில் சொற்பொழிவு செய்துகொண்டிருந்தேன்.நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது ஒரு திறந்த மைதானத்தில்.யாருடைய சொந்த இடத்திலும் இல்லை.நான் பேச ஆரம்பித்தது தான் தாமதம் புத்தமதத்தின் பிட்சுக்களும் மற்றவர்களும் ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் அங்கே தம்பட்டங்களையும் ஜால்ராக்களையும் தட்டி பெருத்த ஆரவாரம் செய்தனர். அதில் என்னால் பேசமுடியவில்லை. ரத்தக்களறி ஏற்படுகின்ற சூழ்நிலை.நாமாவது அஹிம்சையை கடைபிடித்து அமைதியாக போவோம். என்று கூறி தமிழர்களை சமாதானப்படுத்தினேன்.பிறகு எப்படியோ எல்லாம் அமைதியானது.

நாளடைவில் தமிழர்கள் மெல்லமெல்ல வடக்கிலிருந்து இலங்கையின் மற்றபகுதிகளில் குடியேறினர். பாதகமான சூழ்நிலை ஏற்படுவதைக்கண்ட பௌத்தர்கள் தலைநகரை(அனுராதபுரத்தை) விட்டுவெளியேறி கண்டி என்றும் மலைப்பகுதியில் குடியேறினர்.சிறிது காலத்தில் தமிழர்கள் அந்த இடத்தை கைப்பற்றி,அங்கே ஓர் இந்து மன்னனுக்கு பட்டம் சூட்டினர்.அதன் பிறகு ஸ்பானியர்,போர்ச்சுக்கீசியர்,டச்சுக்கார்கள் என ஐரோப்பிய கூட்டம் வரத்தொடங்கியது.இறுதியாக ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் வந்து அரசை கைப்பற்றினர்.கண்டியிலிருந்த அரச பரம்பரையினர் தஞ்சாவுருக்கு நாடு கடத்தப்ட்டார்கள்.அங்கு அவர்கள் ஓய்வுதியம் பெற்றுவருகிறார்கள்.
வட இலங்கையில் இந்துக்கள் பெரும்பான்மையினராக வாழ்ந்துவருகிறார்கள். தென்பகுதியில் பௌத்தர்களும் பல்வேறு வகைப்பட்ட ஐரோப்பிர்களும் வசித்துவருகின்றனர். பௌத்தர்களுடைய தற்போதைய தலைநகரம் கொழுப்பு,


இந்துக்களின் தலைநகரம் யாழ்ப்பாணம்.ஜாதிக்கட்டுப்பாடுகள் இந்தியாவில் உள்ளதுபோல் இங்கே இல்லை.இந்து ஜாதிகள் அனைத்தும் ஒன்றுசேர்ந்து ஒரே ஜாதியாகிவிட்டது .இவர்கள் எந்த ஜாதியைச்சேர்ந்த பெண்களையும் திருமணம் செய்துகொள்கிறார்கள்.ஐரோப்பிய பெண்களை திருமணம் செய்யவும் தடையில்லை.அவர்களின் பிள்ளைகள் கோவிலுக்கு சென்று நெற்றியில் விபூதி அணிந்து சிவசிவ என்று சொல்கிறார்கள்.இந்துவை மணக்கும் ஜரோப்பியர்களும் சிவசிவா என்று கூறி இந்துக்களாகிவிடுகிறார்கள்.

இதனால் கிறிஸ்தவ பாதிரிகள் இந்துக்கள்மேல் கோபத்தில் உள்ளார்கள்.இலங்கைக்கு வந்த பல ஐரோப்பியர்கள் இவ்வாறு இந்துக்களாகி விட்டார்கள்.
இங்குள்ள மக்கள் அத்வைதம்,வீர சைவம் ஆகிய நெறிகளை பின்பற்றுகிறார்கள்.ஆனால் இந்து என்று சொல்வதற்கு பதிலாக சைவம் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.இலங்கைத்தமிழ் துாயதமிழ்.இலங்கைமதம் துாயதமிழ் மதம்.
இலங்கையில் மக்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் ஒன்றுகூடி பக்திமேலிட பஜனைசெய்வதும்,சிவபெருமானைப்பற்றி பக்தி பாடல்களைப்பாடுவதும்,ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மிருதங்களின் ஓசையும்,பெரிய பெரிய ஜால்ராக்கள் எழுப்பும் ஒலியும்,சிவந்த கண்களுடன் நல்ல உடற்கட்டுடன் காட்சியளிக்கும் தமிழர்கள் மகாபக்தனான அனுமனைப்போல கழுத்தில் ருத்திராட்சை மாலை அணிந்து விபூதி பூசிக்கொண்டு மெய்மறந்து நடனம் ஆடுவதும்,காணக்கண் கொள்ளாக்காட்சி.அதனை கற்பனை செய்துபார்க்க முடியாது.அவ்வளவு அழகு.
