SL military harassment continues to target ex-LTTE members in Vanni

[TamilNet, Sunday, 29 March 2015, 23:11 GMT]
Former LTTE members who met the touring Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe at Ki'linochchi on Sunday told the SL premier that the occupying Sinhala military was harassing them even after the so-called regime change in Colombo. SL military intelligence operatives continue to interrogate them, they complained adding that the SL soldiers were threatening the families by frequent inspections. The wives of former LTTE members were being harassed after their husbands leave for work, Mr Wickramasinghe was told. However, the SL Prime Minister was using his trip to encourage the occupying SL military to continue the genocidal occupation of the Tamil homeland, informed sources in Jaffna and Vanni told TamilNet.

At Ki'linochchi meeting, the SL Prime Minister asked the SL military commanders who were present at his meeting with former LTTE members, whether they were still being subjected to investigations, which the SL military denied.

The ex-LTTE members who met the SL Prime Minister told media that they were not convinced that there was a sincere attempt on the part of the Sri Lankan regime in disciplining the occupying Sinhala military. On the contrary, it seems now that the SL regime was increasingly listening to the military advisers occupying the Tamil homeland.

“Earlier, the Rajapaksa regime was giving instructions to the military. But, now Sirisena -Wickramasinghe regime seems to be receiving advise from the Sinhala military,” a former LTTE member told TamilNet.

In the meantime, informed sources in Jaffna said that the SL prime minister was more interested in meeting the Sinhala military voters than the war-affected Tamils. Mr Wickramasinge met Sinhala soldiers from all layers, belonging to the three armed forces and the SL Police. The SL military officers were also present at most of his meetings and public events.

The new regime in Colombo was also upholding the paradigm of Sinhala militarisation, Sinhalicisation and the military corporatism in the North-East was the message, which was conveyed to the Tamils during the visit by the SL premier to North, Tamil civil sources in Jaffna added.
