Sinhala-Buddhist temple opened to ‘celebrate’ genocide at Mu’l’livaaykkaal

Coinciding the third anniversary of Mu’l’livaaykkaal genocide, a secretly built Sinhala-Buddhist stupa was inaugurated at Vaddu-vaakal, the entrance to the Mu’l’livaaykkaal genocidal strip of land in Mullaiththeevu. As the Tamil public is yet to be allowed into the stretch of land, the building of the stupa at the genocidal site went unnoticed until its inauguration. Two weeks ago, Colombo opened a coastal road built by Chinese, linking Mu’l’livaaukkaal with Kokku’laay and Pulmoaddai where Sinhala colonisation takes place in high speed. Mu’l’livaaykkaal has already become a ‘tourist’ place for the Sinhalese from the South. While the ‘tourists’ and the Sinhala colonists using the new road are permitted to roam in the stretch of land, Tamils are not permitted to get out of the vehicles. The stupa, with an all-Sinhalese signboard has been built at the side of the new road.

Vaddu-vaakal where the Sinhala-Buddhist stupa is built is the spot from where one enters the Mu’l’li-vaaykkaal strip from the southern side. The place is also close to Vattaap-pazhai, the famous pilgrim centre of Eezham Tamils in Vanni.

Buddhist temples are recently opened at Saiva sacred places in Mannaar and Trincomalee. The Jaffna city itself will be welcoming visitors from the seaside with a massive Buddhist stupa.

The Chinese-built coastal highway linking Pulmoaddai, Kokku’laay and Mullaiththeevu with Mu’l’livaaykkaal will be extended further north along the coast, up to Point Pedro in the northern tip of Jaffna.

All along this coast, Sinhala fishermen have already been brought by the occupying military.

The master plan to Sinhalicize all the coasts of Eezham Tamils to imprison them permanently in their land, is implemented with open nakedness.

The Tamil memory of the genocide is ridiculed with open contempt by the Sinhala military celebrating victory at Palaali and the Sinhala-Buddhists building a ‘temple’ at the strip of land where the genocide was committed.

While any hoodwink from India, USA and the West about finding solution within ‘united Sri Lanka’ is openly and hurriedly countered and pre-empted by the structural genocide of the Sinhala state to make such solutions totally meaningless, the question that who among them are the real culprits is now widely asked by Eezham Tamils.

The anger is turning more and more towards India and the USA, and who ever talks about ‘united’ Sri Lanka, gives assurances to the territorial ‘integrity’ of the genocidal state to continue with the structural genocide and advises Tamils to abide by the so-called international community.

The Indian parliamentary team of the Congress, BJP and CPI-M didn’t utter a word on the on-going colonisation, Sinhalicisation and Buddhicisation.

Sinhala GA officially orders Buddhist construction at Thirukkeatheesvaram [TamilNet, Sunday, 06 May 2012, 00:59 GMT] Occupying Sri Lanka’s Sinhala Government Agent of the Mannaar district of the country of Eezham Tamils, AK Sarath Savindra on Saturday sent official orders to the divisional secretary of Maanthai West to permit the construction of a Buddhist temple at the Saiva sacred centre Thirukkeatheesvaram, where no Sinhala-Buddhists live. A Buddha statue was already placed there by the occupying Sinhala military, at 200 metres near the Saiva temple in a forcefully confiscated private land. Meanwhile, the entire Mannaar district has been brought under the Anuradhapura administrative circle of genocidal Sri Lanka’s Archaeology Department. While existing Muslim and Hindu places of worship are demolished and removed from Dambulla, claimed to be a Buddhist centre, the Sinhala government encroaches a pivotal Saiva sacred centre in the country of Tamils. The local population of the Mannaar district is entirely of Tamil speakers, comprising of Christians, Muslims and Hindus. The Sinhala GA now spearheads a movement to bring in the Sinhala Buddhists, as part of genocidal Sri Lanka’s agenda specified in the LLRC recommendations, to make no territory in the island as belonging to the nation of Tamil speakers. The Sinhala-Buddhists have to occupy the entire island to justify the claim that the island belongs to the Sinhala-Buddhists only, is the thrust of the LLRC recommendations and the recommendations envisage to achieve it by 2020. By upholding the LLRC recommendations at the Geneva level, both the USA and India, and the others tagged behind one or the other power, have deprived the nation of Eezham Tamils from raising any voices against the structural genocide. Even though both these adamant international abetters of the Sinhala state say that they stand only for the ‘positive’ recommendations of the LLRC, what the genocidal state implements are going to be ‘positive’ only for its agenda. The Sinhala GA has recently founded a Buddhist association for the Mannaar district. In January this year, a ‘request’ was made to the GA for him to permit the construction of a Buddhist temple at Thirukeatheesvaram Saiva sacred precincts. The permit he issues now not only legalises the placement of the Buddha statue near the Saiva temple but also allows for the construction of a stupa, Buddhist temple and a vihara in the location. Using the Indian money allotted for the development of Thirukkeatheesvaram, already a ‘Buddhist pilgrim centre’ has been constructed at Thirukkeatheevaram with the sole aim laying foundations for the Sinhalicisation of the site. In the pretext of celebrating 2600 year of Buddha, the entire Mannaar district is decorated and the day was chosen to give official permission for the construction of the Buddhist temple at Thirukeatheesvaram, and a large number of Sinhala-Buddhists are visiting Thirukkeatheesvaram on Saturday, news sources in Mannaar said. Jaffna and Mannaar were the two major cities of the Tamil-Saivaite Kingdom of Jaffna at the time of the advent of Portuguese colonialism in the 16th century. Mannaar for a long time, until it became a separate administrative district in the Northern Province, was directly under the administration of Jaffna. The act of Sri Lanka’s Archaeology Department to bring Mannaar under its Anuradhapura circle is a major conspiracy to culturally delink Mannaar from Jaffna and to alienate the Tamils of the district, social activists of the north said. Mannaar is also the closest landmass to Tamil Nadu. Culturally linking it with Anuradhapura is a significant move of structural genocide, they pointed out. In the last few decades, whatever archaeological finds were discovered in the Mannaar district were taken to Anuradhapura, and thereafter Eezham Tamils never get a chance to see their heritage in their land. Significant finds related to the heritage of Eezham Tamils usually go ‘missing’. The genocidal Sinhala Army and the Archaeology Department of the Sinhala state working in tandem has been pointed out by many in recent times. Many things happen in the island due to genocidal Sri Lanka’s ability to ‘purchase’ politicians, bureaucrats, intelligence officials, media persons and academics in India, including in Tamil Nadu, and due to the inability in Tamil Nadu to bring in the right kind of public pressure to squeeze out righteous results from the corrupt lot in India collaborating with Colombo, political observers in Chennai said. Tamil Nadu Muslims mobilised a demonstration in front of genocidal Sri Lanka’s diplomatic mission in Chennai protesting the demolition of a mosque at Dambulla. A Tamil-Saiva temple complex of key importance in the country of Eezham Tamils is neither of ‘Dravidian’ interest, nor of Marxist interest, and nor of Brahmanical Hindutva interest, commented Saiva religious circles in Jaffna. Meanwhile, Prof John Carswell, who excavated the Maanthai archaeological site where Thirukkeatheescaram is located is said to be shortly bringing out a monograph on Maanthai, co-edited by Sinhala archaeologist Siran Deraniyagala, after 28 years of the excavations. Prof Carswell recently went on record saying that Maanthai “was never the prerogative of any ethnic or religious group.” “It was a city built on a collaboration of commercial and political interests, coming from east and west, north and south,” Carswell said, adding that ancient cities like Maanthai were “windows on a large, complex, and above all ‘dynamic’ system.” His ‘cosmopolitan’ projection of Maanthai may be in tune with those who try to rediscover the unity of the island through Colombo-centric Cosmopolitanism and with those powers and corporates that invest more and more towards the same. But it doesn’t serve the people of the land whose productive capacity generated and sustained civilisation at Maanthai and who now face structural genocide by a state that habitually misinterprets history and archaeology, commented Eezham Tamil academic circles in the UK that had listened to Carswell’s brief video speech at a recent book release function in London. Sinhala Army builds Buddhist temple in front of church in Valveddiththu’rai

The virtually Sinhala Army of Sri Lanka that occupies the country of Eezham Tamils, is building a new Buddhist temple at Valveddiththu’rai Junction, in front of the historic St. Sebastian Church. Valveddiththu’rai, the birthplace of the LTTE leader Pirapaharan, never had any Buddhists, except the occupying Sinhala Army. The act is a naked show of Sri Lanka’s jubilation over the genocide of Eezham Tamils, mocking at those who talk about ‘post-war reconciliation,’ civil activists in Jaffna said. Meanwhile, former TNA parliamentarian MK Sivajilingam on Friday has appealed to the Vatican to take immediate ecclesiastical and diplomatic action to stop the military’s Buddhist construction as it seriously hurts the feelings of the Tamil Catholics of the town. Similar acts of the SL Army are also reported from Mannaar, a major Tamil Catholic city.

Mr. Sivajilingam said that he would discuss the Valveddiththu’rai matter with the Bishop of Jaffna, Thomas Saundaranayagam.

Sri Lanka’s Archdiocese and the Sinhala Archbishops in Colombo were always more conscious of their Sinhaleseness than their Catholicism and hence the Vatican in the past was largely hooked to genocidal Colombo against the national question of Eezham Tamils.

The Eezham Tamil Catholics have long been asking for their own Archdiocese.

The Wikileaks documents show that the Sinhala Archbishop and the head of Sri Lanka’s Anglican Church were virtually conning the US embassy in Colombo on ‘changed attitude’ of the Sinhalese in favour of ‘reconciliation’, basically to protect the regime of Rajapaksa and the genocidal State of Sri Lanka.

Knowing the weakness of the US and India that the orientation of their past approaches, resulting guilt and geopolitical entanglements would prevent them from acknowledging genocide of Tamils in the island, Mahinda Rajapaksa has accelerated a process so that there will be ‘perpetual genocide’ and no political solution other than conceding to Sinhalicisation could be possible for anyone in future.

Sri Lanka has long back reached a point where nothing could be done without international intervention upholding the right to self-determination of nations in the island, but by sitting on acknowledging it the US and India bring in perpetual turmoil to the island, political observers in Jaffna said.

In such a scenario, if any political party in the island or organisation in the diaspora is under the deception that either a piecemeal solution or interim arrangement coming from Colombo could give a respite to Eezham Tamils, it makes a suicidal mistake, the political observers said, pointing to the confirmed genocidal attitude of Colombo.

If Tamils demand on any procedural matters such as lifting the emergency, grease devils or registration of persons and lands, and if there is international pressure, Colombo may withdraw one, but will come out with ten new issues worse than the earlier, to make Eezham Tamils madder and madder with perpetual rage at the helplessness, the observers further said, pointing to the need of Tamil polity’s determined stand with the international community on the fundamentals of liberation.

If the present political lot among Tamils thinks that they are simply incapable of going beyond their subordinations to Establishments, they should at least announce it publicly and totally stop engaging with the political deceit of the Establishments coming from Colombo, New Delhi and Washington, was the opinion of some veteran Tamil political activists in the island.

The sentiment even reflects in the opinion of the ordinary folk among the Eezham Tamils as well.

Captured from the LTTE in 1995, the coastal town of Valveddiththu’rai in the Jaffna Peninsula is occupied by the Sinhala Army for the last 16 years. The Army occupies many of the houses in the town and most of the houses along the shore. It refuses to hand over them to the owners.

Not leaving even the foundation, Pirapaharan’s parental home at Valveddiththu’rai was recently razed down by the genocidal Army.

The Valveddiththu’rai Junction, where the new Buddhist temple is being built is close to the coast and to the enclave of the Army-occupied houses.

Already a Buddha statue was placed under a banyan tree in the junction from where highways towards Jaffna city and KKS harbour deviate. The main military camp and SL police station are located in that place.

It has now become a common practice to place a Buddha statue under every Bo tree and banyan tree in the country of Eezham Tamils occupied by the Sinhala Army.

Presently the SL Army is planning a big statue of Buddha and a large temple in the locality of the Banyan tree at the Valveddiththu’rai Junction, obscuring the historic St. Sebastian church in front of it.

The occupying Sinhala military in recent times particularly targeting coastal towns of Catholic fisher folk such as Naavaanthu’rai, Kurunakar, Maathakal and now Valveddiththu’rai in Jaffna and Pa’l’limunai in Mannaar, has deeper reasons, political observers in Jaffna further said.
