Indian media implies anti-Tamil policy as antidote to Chinese influence

[TamilNet, Sunday, 06 September 2015, 11:39 GMT]
The Hindustan Times in a feature on Sunday said, “Rajapaksa, a lawyer from the country’s deep south, epitomised what many Lankans felt about India – that New Delhi will always favour the Tamils and the Sinhalese will be a wary majority, alert about saving their culture, language and economy from an onslaught just waiting to be launched from barely 22 nautical miles away. China was the antidote. Under Rajapaksa’s presidency in November 2005, Beijing finally got its foot in the door […] The new government has already reversed the tide,” said the feature by Sutirtho Patranobis, reporting from Colombo/ Beijing. The New Delhi-based media’s projection of affairs of the island to masses in India raises serious questions, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.

Whether the Hindustan Times feature implies that New Delhi following anti-Eezham Tamil policy would be a successful antidote to check Chinese influence in the island?

Whether Hindustan Times, having circulation mainly in North India, justifies and sympathises with Rajapaksa that the genocide he committed on Eezham Tamils was in self-defence, fearing ‘onslaught’ from Tamil Nadu?

If China was brought in because of Tamils, why did New Delhi played the role of a crucial partner in the genocide? Was it to prove to Colombo that it would be better than China in quenching the genocidal thirst? In that case what did it achieve? What failure in achievement now pats the back of the new regime? Isn’t there lies an original blunder that continues, but never accepted by media in India painting deceptive pictures to the masses?

If the concern of the Sinhalese, as projected by Hindustan Times, is about “saving their culture, language and economy from an onslaught just waiting barely 22 nautical miles, and if that can justify the genocide, the Sinhala nation would not stop without achieving complete genocide and structural genocide of the nation of Eezham Tamils and militarily knocking the doors of Tamil Nadu that doesn’t have its own military or State. Or there should be an independent Tamil Eelam as buffer for Colombo to come to terms and reconcile. Which way The Hindustan Times thinks that New Delhi should take?

Yet another option is Eezham Tamils forgetting their nation and merging with the Sinhala nation to ‘inherit’ a joint fear about “22 nautical miles away.” Will that be okay for New Delhi and Indian media?

The media in India should grow more matured in honestly educating the masses on the imperialist and corporate greed that actually denies rights of nations, than consistently making Eezham Tamils as scapegoats by media projections to masses in India that delivering justice to the Tamil cause would bring in China.

While talking about waning Chinese influence, never forget to tell the Indian masses on the waxing threat of the USA that is now openly treading on justice to Eezham Tamils and that has a history of devastating for ages any region it entered into, commented the Tamil activists for alternative politics.
