Colombo's desecration of Tamil Heroes Cemetery comes to light as SLA vacates Kanakapuram

The occupying SL military destroyed Tamil War Heroes Cemetery (Maaveerar Thuyilum Illam) at Kanakapuram in Ki’linochchi in January 2009, desecrating the buried bodies of Tamil fighters in an inhumane manner and bulldozing all the tombstones. Hundreds of destroyed tombstones were used as stones for SL military driveways in the occupied Ki’linochchi. In 2013, as the people started to resettle, the elected Divisional Council of Karaichchi division resolved to transform the destroyed Heroes Cemetery into a park as the 10-acres land was originally a property of the civic body. Within a few days of the declaration, the SL military fenced off the lands to block the move and deployed the area for military use. Last week, the SL military finally vacated from the grounds and reporters were able to witness the extent of desecration and destruction caused by the SL military.



“There will be no reconciliation with genocidal Sri Lanka before it issues a public apology and declares our Tamil fighters as freedom fighters,” said a mother of a war dead Tamil fighter, whose remains were buried at Kanakapuram during the times of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) .

All the Heroes Cemeteries maintained by the LTTE in the North and East had been completely razed to the ground by the Sinhala military and all the graves, memorial plaques and the dais where the Common Flame is lit on Heroes Day have been totally destroyed.

After 2009, the occupying Sinhala military created military bases at many of the Tamil Heroes cemeteries. Some of the lands belonging to Tamil Heroes Cemeteries have even been sold to corporate owners from South during the Rajapaksa regime.

Kanakapuram at Ki’linochci is one of the few to be retrieved by a civil authority elected by Tamils, at least in destroyed state.

In Vanni, there were at least ten Tamil War Heroes Cemeteries, known as Maaveerar Thuyilum Illamss.

These Heroes cemeteries were located in Aa'ndaangku’lam, Aadkaaddive'li and Pa’ndivirichchaan in Mannaar, Kanakapuram and Muzhangkaavil in Ki’linochchi district, Uduththu’rai in Vadamaraadchi East of Jaffna district, Eachchangku’lam in Vavuniyaa and four at Vanni-vizhaangku’lam, Visuvamadu, A’lampil, and Mu’l’liyava’lai of Mullaiththeevu district.

The ‘Sri Lanka’ Army bulldozed the Heroes Cemetery at Visuvamadu between March and April 2009.

The SLA captured Tamil civilians of Vanni, who were made to pass through Visuvamadu on 21st of April 2009, before reaching internment camps in Vavuniyaa, had witnessed the complete destruction of the largest Maaveerar Thuyilum illam in Visuvamadu, where more than 4,000 war dead Tamil fighters had been buried by the Tigers.

Tamil circles view the systematic destruction of Tamil war heroes' cemeteries and the symbols of the Tamil struggle in North and East as part of a large-scale genocide programme on Tamils by the Sri Lankan state.

Lawyers demand UN action into allegations of Colombo deploying chemical substances on POWs

“Accusation by former LTTE cadres that they were administered with poisonous and chemical substances during rehabilitation period resulting in their being afflicted with serious physical disabilities have raised concerns as regards the accountability and justice process,” said K.S. Ratnavale and V. Puvitharan, the conveners of Tamil Lawyers Forum in an open appeal issued on Sunday to the UN Human Rights Council demanding international action. “The very nature of poisonous substance makes it difficult for medical personnel to identify or detect such substance on the mere examination of victims. It behoves the scientists with medical background and expertise and not merely medical doctors to identify the effects of injestion of external substances in the body,” the appeal coming from the TFL said.

The TLF appeal pointed out that the Northern Provincial Council has came up with a resolution passed on 25th August 2016 calling for medical investigation to be carried on the ex cadres by competent and trusted medical experts. The appeal also observed that the opposition Tamil National Alliance sailing together with the present government and the TNA leader who is also the leader of the opposition have not made any remark, leave alone taking meaningful action.

The lawyers have come with the following demands to the UN Human Rights Council:

1. Appoint a team of scientists including medical experts of international repute and competence to examine the victims who complain of poisons chemical substance injections while in custody
   
2. Request the GOSL to grant access for such team of medical experts to conduct investigation on victims in Sri Lanka.
   
3. Take appropriate action on the Report that may be submitted to you by the experts’ team.

“It has been observed that several former LTTE cadres in the prime of their life are suffering from physical disabilities ranging from debilitation, impairment, permanent privation of eyes, ears and other limbs, emasculation, deliriousness and disfiguration all of which could be traced from the time they were inmates of rehabilitation or detention centers,” the appeal said.

“Several such victims have made complaints to the Zonal Task Force on National Consultation and to various entities including Members of Parliament about their mysterious illnesses and therefore this issue cannot be easily ignored or trifled with,” it further said.

“The numbers of dead among the category of ex cadres who have served time in Rehabilitation facilities stand at a high 107 within the last 4-5 years and have added weight to the seriousness of the allegation leveled against the Military and Defense establishment of Sri Lanka.”

“It is also disconcerting that many of such victims have died of cancer related illnesses.”

  அதில் கலந்து கொண்ட மாணவ,மாணவிகளின் இசை நடன நிகழ்ச்சி கடந்த 2 ஆம்  நாள் கல்ஃப்   முன்முறைப் பள்ளியில் நடை பெற்றது.

,,சிறுவர் சிறுமிகள் ஆடல் பாடலுடன் இசைக்கருவிகளையும் வாசித்து வந்திருந்தவர்களை மகிழ்ச்சிப்படுத்தினார்கள். மேலும் இங்கு தொடர்ச்சியாகப் பயிலும் மாணவர்கள், அவர்களின் பெற்றோர்களில் சில பதிவிசை(கரோக்கி)யுடன் இணைந்து பாடல்களைப் பாடி பார்வையாளர்களை மகிழ்வித்தார்கள். மேலும் இந்தப் பள்ளியின் நடன ஆசிரியர்கள்  ஐதர்,  மற்றும்  இரேசுமி ஆகியோரின் நடனமும் இசை ஆசிரியர்கள் நௌசத்து, இரேணுகா பாடல்களும் பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு உற்சாகமளித்தன.

  மேலும் வீணாகிப் போகும் பொருட்களில் இருந்து மாணவர்கள் செய்த கைவினைப் பொருட்கள் கண்காட்சியும் ந்டைபெற்றது. அப்பொருட்களை எவ்வாறு பயன்படுத்துவது என்று திருமதி.பிரியதர்சனி கொளசிக்கு அவர்கள் திறம்பட எடுத்துரைத்தார்.

  இரேணுகா, அரிதா ஆகிய இரண்டு பெண்மணிகள் நடத்தும் இந்தப்பள்ளியின் விழாவில் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக வருகை தந்த திரு. வஃகாபுதீன், வினு இராமச்சந்திரன், முதுவை இதயத்துல்லா, சையது மீரான்,  அமீது இயாசின் பாரூக்கு அலியார் ஆகியோர் கலந்த்து கொண்டனர், நிகழ்ச்சியின் சிறப்பு  அறிவிப்பாளார்களாக சங்கர்  மகாதேவன், பிரியதர்சனி இருந்தனர். நிகழ்ச்சியின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளராக முத்துலட்சுமி, பிரேம் இருந்தனர்.

  இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில்  ஒரு புதிய தமிழ்இசை இசைக்குழு ‘அந்தரா’ விசயபாசுகர் மற்றும் அணி,  அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. அவர்களும் நிகழ்ச்சியின் இறுதியில் பாடல்களைப் பாடி மக்களை உற்சாகப் படுத்தினர்.

  தமிழ்நாட்டில் செயல்படும் இந்திய அரசுத் தொழிற்சாலைகள், இந்திய அரசு அலுவலகங்களில் தமிழர்களுக்கு 90% வேலை வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றும் வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கு 10% வேலை மட்டும் வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றும் வலியுறுத்தி தமிழ்த்தேசியப் பேரியக்கம் வரும் ஆவணி 27, 2047 / 12.09.2016 திங்கள் கிழமை காலை 10.00 மணிக்குத் திருச்சி தொடர்வண்டி கோட்டத் தலைமையகத்தில் முற்றுகைப் போராட்டம் நடத்த உள்ளது.

 10% மேல் இந்நிறுவனங்களில் வேலையில் உள்ள வெளி மாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களை உடனடியாக வெளியேற்ற வேண்டும் என்றும் வலியுறுத்திகிறது.

  இக்கோரிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்தியும் திருச்சியில் நடைபெறும் முற்றுகைப் போரட்டத்தைத் தெரிவித்தும் தமிழ்த்தேசியப் பேரியக்கத் தலைவரும் முற்றுகைப் போரட்டத்தின் தலைவருமான தோழர் பெ. மணியரசன் ஆவணி 24, 2047 / 09.09.2016 அன்று தொடர்புடைய நடுவண் தொழிற்சாலை மற்றும் அலுவலகங்களின் அனைத்திந்திய  தலைமை அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் தமிழ்நாட்டு தலைமை அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் பதிவு அஞ்சலில் மடல் அனுப்பியுள்ளார்.

அதன் சுருக்கம் வருமாறு:

  இந்தியத் துணைக் கண்டம் பல்வேறு மொழி இனங்களின் வரலாற்றுத் தாயகமாக உள்ளது. இந்த உண்மையைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு தான் மொழிவழித் தாயகங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இதற்காக மாநிலங்கள் மறுசீரமைப்புச் சட்டம் – 1956 இயற்றப்பட்டது. புரட்டாசி 14, 1986 / 30.09.1955 இல் வெளியான மாநிலங்கள் மறுசீரமைப்பு ஆணையத்தின் அறிக்கையில் பண்பாடு, மொழி, வேலைவாய்ப்பு, வாழ்க்கை உறுதி ஆகியவற்றிற்காக மொழி வழி மாநிலங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்ட வேண்டும் என்று கூறியது. இதன்படி புரட்டாசி 15, 1986 / 01.10.1956இல் தமிழ்நாடு தமிழர் தாயகமாக நிறுவப்பட்டது.

  இச்சட்டத்தின்படித், தமிழ்நாட்டில் உருவாகும் மாநில மற்றும் நடுவண் அரசு மற்றும் தனியார் துறை வேலைவாய்ப்புகளில் தமிழர்களுக்கே முன்னுரிமைதரவேண்டும். வேலைவாய்ப்பு அலுவலகங்கள் (காலி இடங்கள் பற்றிய கட்டாய அறிவிக்கை) சட்டம் – 1959 மாநிலங்களில் உள்ள இந்திய அரசின் நிறுவனங்களில் உருவாகும் வேலைவாய்ப்புகளை மாநில வேலைவாய்ப்பு அலுவலகங்கள் மூலம் வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றும் கூறுகிறது.

 ஆனால்  மேற்கண்ட சட்டங்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கைகளுக்கும் முரணாகத் தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள இந்திய அரசு நிறுவனங்கள் அனைத்திலும் அண்மைக் காலமாக வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களையே மிக அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில் சேர்க்கிறார்கள். எடுத்துக் காட்டாகத் தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள தொடர்வண்டித்துறையில் கிட்டத்தட்ட 70 விழுக்காட்டினர் வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களையே வேலையில் சேர்க்கிறார்கள். இராணுவத் தொழிற்சாலைகளில் வேலையில் சேர்க்கப்படுவோர் 80 விழுக்காட்டினர் வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாகவே உள்ளனர். கொதிகலன்(பாய்லர்) தொழிற்சாலையில் ஊழியர் அளவில் 40 விழுக்காட்டினர் வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாகவே உள்ளனர். அதிகாரிகள் அளவில் 80% வெளி மாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாக உள்ளனர். இதே போல் நடுவண் அரசின் உற்பத்தி வரி, வருமான வரி, கடவுச்சீட்டு அலுவலங்களிலும், எரிநெய்(பெட்ரோலிய) ஆலைகளிலும், துறைமுகங்களிலும் வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களையே அதிக எண்ணிகையில் வேலையில் சேர்த்துள்ளார்கள்.

  இந்த அநீதிகளைக் களைந்து, மேற்கண்ட நிறுவனங்களில் மண்ணின் மக்களாகிய தமிழர்களுக்கு 90% வேலை வழங்க வேண்டும். 10%க்கு மேல் உள்ள வெளிமாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களை உடனடியாக வெளியேற்ற வேண்டும்.

   ஆவணி 27, 2047 / 12.09.2016 முற்றுகைப் போரட்டத்திற்கு இனத்தற்காப்பு உணர்வோடு தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதிலுமிருந்து உணர்வாளர்கள் திருச்சிக்கு வருமாறும் வேண்டுகிறோம்.
