Documentary on Tamil Nadu student uprising released in Chennai

A documentary based on the Tamil Nadu student uprising that challenged establishments’ abetment of the genocide of the Eezham Tamil nation, was released to the public in Chennai on Sunday. Titled “A'rappoar” (Righteous Struggle), the documentary focuses on the student upsurge against the pro-LLRC US Resolution in March 2013. The documentary, screened at Book Point Hall in Anna Salai on Sunday to packed audiences, also saw speakers talking about the continued international injustice to the Eezham Tamil nation and the future of the students’ struggle in Tamil Nadu.

Kollywood Director Ameer, Eezham Tamil poet Kasi Anandan, Thirumurugan Gandhi from the May 17 Movement, K. Venkatraman from the Tamizh Desiya Pothuvudamai Katchi, and director M. Senthamizhan spoke at the event.

The documentary, written and directed by V. Vettrivel Chandrashekar is produced by C. Kabilan from Senkodi Media Works.

Mr. Vettrivel was the author of the short book “Thuruppuch Cheeddu” about K. Muthukkumar, the youth activist who had triggered mass student protests in Tamil Nadu in early 2009 by his self-immolation for the cause of the Eezham Tamils.

He was also assistant director to the movie “Paalai” directed by M. Senthamizhan.

The director of “A'rappoar” also directed the documentary “Ippadikku Thoazhar Sengkodi”, based on grassroots activist Senkodi from Tamil Nadu who had immolated herself for the cause of the three Tamils on death row in the ‘Rajiv Gandhi assassination case’.

Dr Malathy’s ‘A Fleeting Moment’ to be released in Tamil

Tamil Nadu based publication house Vidiyal Pathippakam will be releasing the Tamil version of Dr. N. Malathy’s book ‘A fleeting moment in my country’ by the end of this month. The book in Tamil, titled “Enathu naaddil oru thu'li nearam: viduthalaip pulika'lin nadaimu'rai arasin i'ruthi naanku varudangka'l” will be ready for sale on 30 July, and will be on display at the Erode Book fair by the first week of August.

The book will be an excellent source of information, especially to the new generation of activists in Tamil Nadu who are at the forefront of struggles post-2009, commented Tamil literary circles in Chennai.

The sober assessment by the author of the LTTE de-facto state and the role that the International Community of Establishments played in tilting the balance in favour of genocidal Sri Lanka will also assist the Tamil Nadu activists to correctly identify and challenge the ultimate culprits, they further added.

TNPF politicians, journalist released on bail

The SL police in Mannaar has released TNPF politicians Selvarasa Kajendren, Visvalingam Manivannan and a journalist, Joseph Fernando, together with 6 other males on personal bail Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. after producing them before the Judicial Medical Officer for examination.

The six women held in detention were relased earlier around 8:30 p.m.

The TNPF politicians were arrested by the Sri Lankan Police at Mannaar Saturday afternoon while they were attending a Mu'l'livaaykkaal Remembrance Day function.

பெங்களூரு : கர்நாடகா, கிருஷ்ணராஜ சாகர் அணையிலிருந்து, தமிழகத்திற்கு திறந்து விடப்பட்ட காவிரி தண்ணீர் நேற்றிரவு நிறுத்தப்பட்டது.

தமிழகத்துக்கு தண்ணீர் திறந்து விடும்படி, சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட் உத்தரவிட்டது. இந்த உத்தரவை மறு ஆய்வு செய்யக்கோரி, கர்நாடகா அரசு சார்பில், சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட்டில் தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட மனு நேற்று விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது.மனு மீதான விசாரணை, அக்டோபர், 12ம் தேதிக்கு ஒத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டது. அப்போது, சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட்டில், கர்நாடகா அரசு சார்பில், மூத்த வக்கீல் நாரிமன், பிரமாண பத்திரம் ஒன்றை தாக்கல் செய்தார். அதில், "தமிழகத்திற்கு தண்ணீர் விடுவது இன்றிரவிலிருந்து (நேற்று) நிறுத்தப்படும்' என, தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. இந்த, பிரமாண பத்திரத்திற்கு, தமிழக அரசு இரண்டு நாளில் பதிலளிக்குமாறு நீதிபதி ஜெயின் உத்தரவிட்டார்.

"தமிழகத்திற்கு தண்ணீர் விடக்கூடாது' என, கர்நாடகாவில் விவசாயிகள் தொடர்ந்து போராட்டம் நடத்தி வந்தனர். கர்நாடகாவில் இயங்கி வரும் மத்திய அரசு அலுவலகங்கள் மீது தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டது.நேற்று முன்தினம் மைசூரு கிருஷ்ணராஜ சாகர் அணையிலிருந்து விநாடிக்கு, 11 ஆயிரம் கன அடி தண்ணீர் திறந்து விடப்பட்டது. இந்த தண்ணீர், நேற்று மாலை, 9,800 கன அடி தண்ணீராக குறைக்கப்பட்டது. தமிழகத்துக்கு விடப்பட்டு வந்த தண்ணீரை, கர்நாடகா எந்த நேரத்திலும் நிறுத்தலாம் என்ற நிலை உருவானது.

நேற்றிரவு, 7:45 மணியளவில், தமிழகத்துக்கு விடப்பட்டு வந்த தண்ணீர் நிறுத்தப்பட்டது. கர்நாடகா விவசாயத்திற்கு மட்டும், 5,000 கன அடி தண்ணீர் திறந்து விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்நிலையில், முதல்வர் ஜெகதீஷ் ஷெட்டர், கர்நாடகாவின் அனைத்து எம்.பி., க்களுடன் டில்லியில், இன்று காலை, 9:30 மணியளவில் ஆலோசனை நடத்துகிறார்.
