Colombo targets NPC member Ananthi for witnessing against Sri Lanka

“ I am fully prepared to confront the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence, which has leaked a news threatening to put me through their so-called military rehabilitation,” said Ananthi Sasitharan, the only woman candidate of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC), who also polled largest number of preferential votes next to the chief minister candidate of the NPC. Ms Ananthi Sasistharan was one of the public witnesses at the recent hearings by the Permanent Peoples Tribunal held in Bremen. She also met the US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues, who visited Jaffna recently and explained to him that what went on in Vanni in 2009 was a genocidal onslaught and that a programme of structural genocide was being stepped up against Eezham Tamils.

The SL Ministry of Defence (MoD) was considering to arrest Ms Ananthi Sasitharan and put her through a so-called rehabilitation programme, reported Shamindra Fedinando, a ‘journalist’ of The Island paper.

Ananthi wouldn’t have adopted such a hostile stance towards the SL government and its military had she undergone the rehabilitation, the paper said citing an unnamed ‘senior source’ of the SL MoD.

Responding, Ms Ananthi Sasitharan said that Colombo was trying to curb the struggle for missing persons. This struggle will continue despite the threats coming from Colombo and its military Establishment, she said.

46-year-old Ananthi Sasitharan is the wife of Ezhilan, the former Trincomalee Political Head of the LTTE and a mother of three girls. She personally witnessed Sri Lanka military taking away her husband at the end the Vanni War in May 2009.

The SL State is still refusing to reveal the fate of those who were filtered away from the civilians and taken into buses to undisclosed detention camps.

Tamil witnessess who gave evidence at the sittings of the Sri Lanka’s Lessons learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) and whose evidence was taken under the oath of secrecy have now been singled out for interrogation by the Sri Lanka's Criminal Investigation Department, sources in Colombo said. The LLRC, in contravention to the agreement with the witnesses, has allegedly disclosed the witness details to law enforcement authorities, placing lives of witnesses in danger, as revealed by the summons issued by the CID to 45-year old Ratnam Poongoothai, to appear before the CID in Colombo, legal sources said.

Details of alleged violation of witness privacy by the LLRC, emerged the CID issued summon through the Kalmunai Police to Poongoothai, mother of four children of Kalmunai in Ampaarai district to appear on November 25 before by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sri Lanka Police in Colombo.

LLRC directed Poongkoathai to appear at the Kalmunai Police Station instead of travelling to Colombo following her inability to travel to Colombo and meet the CID due to fear of her security and her dire fianancial situation. She said that she is thinking of making a statement to Kalmunai Police accompanied by human rights commission officials and with a lawyer to avoid further harassment.

Poongkoathai gave evidence before the LLRC and pleaded to locate her sister, mother of three children, who had been abducted by Iniyapaarathi, a cadre of the Karuna para military group.

Iniyapaarathi now holds the post of Ampaarai district coordinating officer of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Poongoothai also was abducted along with her sister but she fortunately escaped after ten days.

Poongkoathai recalled an incident that took place under the then UNP regime in which her sister was subjected to sexual assault by ten persons. Since then her sister has been in mentally deranged state. She added that her husband and two brothers also suffered in that incident.

Poongkoathai further revealed that after 2007 Iniyapaarathy came to her house and attacked her mother and three sisters and dragged them out of their house and kept them in their custody for ten days. She and members of her family underwent untold hardships, Poongkoathai said.

 இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் ஜெனரல் பதவியில் இருக்கும் சஞ்சீவ் பட், தனக்கு கீழ் பணிபுரிந்த ஒரு காவல்துறை அதிகாரியிடம், மோடிக்கு எதிராக சாட்சியமளிக்கும்படி வற்புரித்தினார் என்று   புகார் அளிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. அந்த புகார் தொடர்பிலேயே அவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பதாக குஜராத் அரசு தரப்பில் கூறப்படுகிறது.

ஆனால் இந்த வாதத்தை ஏற்கமறுக்கிறார் குஜராத் மாநிலத்ததின் முன்னாள் டி ஜி பி ஸ்ரீகுமார். நரேந்திரமோடிக்கு எதிராக இந்திய உச்சநீதிமன்றம் வரை சென்று சாட்சியமளித்ததற்காகவே சஞ்சீவ் பட் பொய் வழக்கில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பதாக அவர் கூறுகிறார்.

குஜராத் மதக்கலவரங்களை நரேந்திரமோடி தான் திட்டமிட்டு நடத்தினார் என்று முதன்முதலில் கூறிய தான் பதவி உயர்வு அளிக்கப்படாமலும், ஓய்வூதியம் வழங்கப்படாமலும் பழிவாங்கப்பட்டதாக கூறும் ஸ்ரீகுமார், அதே போல சஞ்சீவ் பட்டும் நரேந்திரமோடிக்கு எதிராக சாட்சியமளித்ததற்காக தற்போது பழிவாங்கப்படுவதாகக் கருதுகிறார்.

குஜராத் முதலமைச்சர் நரேந்திரமோடி தலைமையில் 2002 ஆம் ஆண்டு பிப்ரவரி 22 ஆம் தேதி மாலை நடத்திய கூட்டத்தில் சஞ்சீவ் பட் கலந்துகொண்டதாக தெரிவிக்கிறார் ஸ்ரீகுமார். சட்டம் ஒழுங்கு குறித்து ஆராய்வதற்காக கூட்டப்பட்ட அந்த கூட்டத்தில், கோத்ரா ரயில் எரிப்பு சம்பவத்துக்கு பதிலடியாக, முஸ்லீம்களுக்கு எதிராக ஹிந்துக்கள் பழிவாங்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளை நடத்துவதற்கு மூன்று நாட்கள் அனுமதிக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்றும் அவர்களை காவல்துறை தடுக்கக்கூடாது என்றும் நரேந்திரமோடி உத்தரவிட்ட தகவலை சஞ்சீவ் பட் உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தில் தெரிவித்துவிட்டார் என்பது தான் அவர் மீது நரேந்திரமோடிக்கும் அவரது ஆதரவாளர்களுக்கும் கோபம் வரக்காரணம் என்கிறார் ஸ்ரீகுமார். ஆனால் சஞ்சீவ் பட்டின் இந்த சாட்சியத்தை மோடி தரப்பு மறுத்துவருகிறது.

 ஆனாலும், நரேந்திரமோடிக்கு எதிரான சஞ்சீவ் பட்டின் சாட்சியம் மிக மிக முக்கியமானது என்கிறார் ஸ்ரீகுமார். “குஜராத் கலவரங்களை வடிவமைத்து, சதித்திட்டம் தீட்டி, நடத்தி முடித்தவர் நரேந்திரமோடிதான் என்பதற்கான ஒரே நேரடி சாட்சியமாக சஞ்சீவ் பட் இருக்கிறார். மோடியின் ஆணையின்படியே காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் எல்லாம் செயற்பட்டார்கள் என்பதற்கான ஒரே நேரடி சாட்சியமாக சஞ்சீவ் பட் இருக்கிறார். அதனால் தான் அவரை குறிவைத்து பழிவாங்குகிறார்கள். இதில் மேலும் கவலை தரும் விடயம் என்னவென்றால், இந்த பிரச்சினைக்காக, ராகவன் தலைமையில் உச்சநீதிமன்றம் நியமித்திருக்கும் சிறப்பு புலனாய்வுக்குழுவும் குஜராத் அரசாங்கத்தோடு ஒத்துப்போகிறதே தவிர, உண்மையை வெளிக்கொண்டுவர மறுக்கிறது. குஜராத் அரசு போட்டுக்கொடுக்கும் செயற்திட்டத்திற்கேற்ப இவர்களின் புலனாய்வு சென்று கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இந்த பின்னணியில், நான் எப்படி தனி மனிதனாக நீதிமன்றம் போய் எனக்கான நியாயத்தை பெற்றேனோ, சஞ்சீவ் பட்டுக்கும் அது தான் ஒரே வழி. வேறு வழியில்லை,” என்கிறார் குஜராத் முன்னாள் டிஜிபி ஸ்ரீகுமார்.

பிபிசி
