TNA should clarify ‘consensus’ on domestic investigation

TNA should clarify ‘consensus’ on domestic investigation

[TamilNet, Monday, 24 August 2015, 15:24 GMT]
While interviewing Mr Ranil Wikremesinghe for The Hindu on Monday, Indian media’s veteran antagonist of Eezham Tamil independence, ‘Sri Lanka Ratna’ Ram, came out with a question like guidance: “And on the human rights issues, there is a demand for an international investigation. But clearly there is a consensus in Sri Lanka that the investigation should be domestic.” The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) should clarify to Tamils whether it is part of this ‘consensus’, since genocidal Sari Lanka’s Prime Minister recognizes it in the interview as one of the three key players. Any silence of TNA in this matter should prompt Tamils to lose no time in mobilising their polity to face the drama that is going to be enacted in Geneva next month by the Indo-US playwrights, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics.

The silencing of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms Jayalalithaa and the attack on NPC Chief Minister, Justice Wigneswaran, currently undertaken by Indian media need not be mere coincidences. Both have democratically demanded international investigation of the genocide.

In the interview, Ranil stood for total domestic investigation.

On political solution, he defended the current unitary State, citing that the formula was accepted by India also.

He argued for not going beyond even the rotten 13 Amendment.

“Let’s see how we work it out within the 13th Amendment, maximise it,” Ranil said.

Even in ‘maximising’, his stand was that there is now no question about land. “I think a lot of people are satisfied with land,” he commented.

On ‘police powers’, citing “politicisation of the police”, he was arguing for strengthening Colombo’s “Independent Police Commission” as solution.

Finally there was nothing in substance, other than the agenda that the current engineering paradigm should last “for at least the next ten years.”

The LLRC fixed 20 years to complete the structural genocide of the nation of Eezham Tamils in the island. Five years are already over. Now with the ‘consensus’ coming from Tamil actors for the play scripted by the ultimate culprits, Ranil envisages to quicken the process at least by 5 years.

One of the interests of N. Ram was on knowing from Ranil what role Chandrika Kumaratunga would be provided with at this juncture. Again Ram came out with the guidance that Chandrika could help forging a political solution to the Tamil question.

Ranil assured him that he would look at common meeting points.

Ram didn't forget a question on an item in the 'shopping list'. For his question on the Adam's Bridge project, Ranil's implied reply was that structural genocide should precede first.
